the necessary facilities to the students that are the pre-requisite for effective study, yet the
standard of our library of our school is not up to the mark. We have a big library in our
school but still there are some lacking in our school library. The numbers of books are not
quite sufficient. More books on science and literature should be brought. The sitting
arrangement is also not quite satisfactory. as the reading room is a congested one, so
many students do not get space to sit there. The time for keeping books should also be
extended.
In the above circumstances, it is our heartiest pray to you that you would be kind enough

more logically.

To
The Chairman
N Union Parishad.

Sir,

With due respect and humble honor I would like to draw your kind attention to the great
inconvenience caused owing to lack of a tube-well in our locality. Our area is a populous
one which is inhabited by almost one hundred and fifty families. The few existing tubewells that we have in our locality, have been serving us for such a long time that they are
now almost out of order. Smooth and clean water supply can not be thought to be
provided by them. As a result, ill-health, sufferings, upsets and irregularities are the
common phenomenon in our day-to-day life. If effective steps are not taken immediately
the whole situation may turn into a serious problem.
Thus, in this state of affairs, I am compelled to entreat you, Sir, to take necessary steps to
sink a tube-well in our locality and if your honour would be blessed we shall be grateful to
you.

fact that there is no charitable dispensary in our locality. As a result people suffer from
many diseases and die for lack of treatment. Most of the people are poor and ignorant
and are not aware of the health issues. Every year cholera, typhoid, influenza etc. break
out in an epidemic form and take a heavy toll of lives. A charitable dispensary is the
immense need of time to save this people.

The Headmaster,
M. B. High School
Chittagong.
Sub:Prayer for setting up a debating club in the school
Sir,
We, the students of your school, beg most respectfully to state that we have no debating
club in our school. As such, we do not get any opportunity to train up ourselves in the art
of oratory. Debate is the only effective way that helps a student to learn the art of
speaking fluently on the basis of logical arguments. It is the training ground for making a
student a great orator and statesman in later life.
We, therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to setup a debating club in
our school, in order to fulfill our long desire.

15. An application to the Headmaster for canteen.
21st October, 2006
The Headmaster,
M. B. High School
Chittagong.
Sub: Prayer for opening a canteen in the school premises.
Sir,
I, on behalf of the students of your school, have the honour to state that we suffer greatly
for want of a canteen. A school canteen can supply us with hygienic food. But as we have
no canteen, we are going to the nearby canteens outside the school during the leisure to
have some food. The canteen where from we take our food is dirty and it often supplies
unhygienic food. We often become sick taking the polluted food. So we need to have a
canteen within our school campus.
I, therefore, on behalf of my classmates, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to
take proper steps for opening a canteen in our school premises to ensure our sound
health.

Sir,
With due respect and humble submission we, the students of class IX/X would like to let

In our class most of the students have taken up computer science as an elective subject.
Besides having theoretical knowledge we have to build ourselves knowledge on the
subject. But we are sorry to say that is no computer club where we can make regular
practice in our school. Moreover, it is sctually a necessity and a school like ours should
provide the students with such a facility to cultivate this most important subject. In addition
to that you may kindly wish to appoint a competent computer-operator who would be able
to guid us in our practice.
In the circumstances, we earnestly request your honour to take early to set up a

1. Write a letter about a film you have enjoyed recently.
21 October, 2006
37, Rahamat Gonj
Chittagong.
Dear Arpa,
Your sweet note has come to me like a shower of rain in the midst of scorching heat.
Hope you are well by the grace of Almighty Allah. You know that the quality of our todays

films has deteriorated much. Yet, I dare to watch a film. Few days ago, I went to watch a
movie and really enjoyed that film. The name of the film was Abar Tora Manush Ho, by
late Khan Ata, a renowned film director. In this film he has shown the anarchic condition of
Bangladesh just after its independence.
Just after the liberation some students, some freedom fighters and some people of other
sections took law in their hands. The students instead of attending to their lessons took
arms in their hands. They did not care law and order. There was a scene of much copying
in the examination hall by the students. The film has also shown that when a teacher tried
to prevent them from copying, they humiliated the teacher. Many businessmen were very
corrupt. They had no sense of right and wrong. They only knew money.
In fact, the film is the pen-picture of the corruption that was rampant in the society after
the Liberation War. All the actors and actresses acted up to the mark. The film can
become a role model to the Directors and Producers of today. Hope you will enjoy the
film. With best regards.
Ever yours,
MooN.
