databases
Introduction
Nowadays databases are used with a lot of frequency and not only professionals use them.
Anyone who uses the cash machine or pays with a credit card or fills in a form by internet,
databases are used.
The purpose of this module is to give an approximation to database concepts and to learn a tool
in order to use it.
Three scopes will be explored
real world
conceptual world
representation world
The unit entity-relationship (ER) studies the data model thoroughly.
In this unit basic structures of the model and the extensions of the model ER are analyzed.
Moreover, this unit explores the database design and its steps.
This study is essential for the database exploitation
The unit Relational model and normalization introduces the basic concepts of the relational
model. This step is one of the most important ones because it permits the implementation the
database management systems (DBMS) and the design previously devised.
The normalization offers procedures in order to obtain databases integrity without redundancy.
The DBMS offers tools in order to manage the DB. The SQL language is one of the most
important ones.
The SQL offer tools to create, delete, add databases, introduce, modify, delete, consult, orderer
data, and so on.
The aim of this module is a professional orientation with the goal that the student knows to deal
with databases.
At the end of this module the student will have learned:
Database introduction
Recognize the elements of a databases, analyze their functions and to evaluate the usefulness
of its functions
Design Normal logic models with its interpretation on entity-relationship diagrams.
Languages SQL:DML i DDL
Consult and modify the information stored in a database using assistants, graphic tools.
Perform physical design databases using wizards, graphic tools and data definition language.
Information Assurance
Execute tasks assurance information, analyzing and applying the safeguards and transfer.
