Kinder Korner

March 2010

I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful weather. Before long the weather
will be hot and sticky. Please send a sport -top water bottle in with your
child so they may drink water when they need it. Parents of girls-e-We have
noticed that some of the girls are not wearing modesty shorts under their
jumpers, please make sure the girls are wearing their complete uniform.
Girls may not wear nail polish or any type of make-up., and hair ribbons or
bows must match the uniform in red, white or navy blue and be minimal
and conservative. Parents to the boys=-sboes, if they cannot tie their own
shoes and keep them tied then they must wear the Velcro shoes until they
learn to tie their shoes. When we return from spring break we will be
starting the 4th quarter- this is the time to change from winter uniform to
summer uniform. Please refer to the student handbook to review the correct
uniform.

Please review the sight word sheet; it's a good review for the sight word
assessment coming up next week. Report cards will go home after Spring
Break. Starting on March 26, we will begin Show-n- Tell every Friday.
All item s must fit in the student's backpack. (No live creatures)

Finally, I pray that everyone will have a restful and pleasant time off. The
students are reading so well, please keep up the good work. Visit your local
library and enjoy reading with your child. Spring Break is a great time to
spend some real special time with your child.

Lunch room reminders: the students that are bringing cold lunches from
home must bring all that they need to eat their lunch and to eat it as is. We
cannot cook or warm up items they are bringing from home. Our cafeteria
staff has asked us to only allow students paying for hot lunch to use the
spoons, forks, napkins act. Please remember to pack your child a snack
everyday -even on days they eat in the lunchroom. Please no chips, cookies,
or over surgery snacks.

Dear Time/ every students needs to bring a book from home to


read during the afternoon rest period. Iencourage books that
they are reading at home, chapter books are great!
In the Classroom:
Religion: Parables, the Transfiguration, Lent, Sorrowful Mysteries, Palm
Sunday, The Last Supper, Stations of the Cross, Passion of Christ

Math: Writing and identifying the numbers 55~78, ordering objects by


length, reading and spelling number words o~10, identifying pairs, using and
reading a graph, counting money, paying for items using pennies, nickels
and dimes, dividing by 2, subtraction and addition facts, counting by 5's,
adding two digit numbers, and doubles plus one facts

Language arts: writing simple sentences, learning about parts of speech,


using punctuation correctly, writing short stories by using phonetic
spelling, creative thinking and writing- writing prompts

Reading: beginning and ending blends and digraphs, sight words, signs for
sounds, introduce long vowel rules; continue to read short and long vowel
readers

FOLDERS-Red folders should be returned everyday with completed


homework and the yellow folders need to be returned on Mon. and Fri.
