Dark
Lady
Players
present
radical
new
cultural
paradigm

John
Hudson
said
“
Our
March
20th
presentations
at
the
2010
Left
Forum
will
show
that

Shakespeare’s
plays
were
written
as
anti‐Christian
allegories
by
Amelia
Bassano
Lanier

in
order
to
critique
the
Gospels
by
revealing
them
to
be
Roman
fictions.
As
one
of
the

world’s
most
experimental
Shakespeare
companies,
our
next
production
of
those

allegories,
called
Hamlet’s
Apocalypse,
will
be
at
Manhattan
Theater
Source
in

Greenwich
Village
in
November
2010.
Based
on
research
by
Linda
Kay
Hoff
it
will
show

that
Hamlet
is
a
parody
of
the
Book
of
Revelation”.

New
York,
NY,
March
15,
2010—(PR.com)—John
Hudson
stated
“
The
last
5
years
have

seen
two
major
new
cultural
paradigms.
Firstly,
recent
work
by
Dead
Sea
Scrolls
and

New
Testament
scholar
Joseph
Atwill
has
shown
that
the
Gospels
were
created
by
the

Romans
as
war
propaganda,
to
give
the
Jews
a
pacifistic,
pro‐Roman
messiah
who

would
teach
them
to
pay
taxes,
love
their
enemies
the
Romans,
give
to
Caesar
what
was

due
to
Caesar,
and
assist
the
Roman
army.
Secondly
it
has
been
discovered
that
the

Jewish
poet
Amelia
Bassano
learnt
the
truth
about
Christianity
around
1590,
and

decided
to
transmit
her
knowledge
by
concealing
it
within
the
allegorical
level
of
the

Shakespearean
plays.

For
instance
Hamlet,
which
the
Dark
Lady
Players
will
be
performing
in
November
2010,

is
a
parody
of
the
Book
of
Revelation,
which
mocks
it
as
a
literary
construction
not
a

divine
revelation.
The
parody
in
Hamlet
is
very
clear
because
the
play
has
7
angels,
7

trumpets,
7
letters,
just
like
Revelation.

Laertes
is
a
parody
of
Christ
who
jumps
out
of

the
grave
with
his
arms
in
a
cross
in
a
parody
of
the
resurrection,
and
Ophelia
is
the

Virgin
Mary/Woman
Crowned
with
the
Sun.
Claudius
is
the
Beast
of
the
Apocalypse
and

Gertrude
with
her
chalice
is
the
Whore
of
Babylon.
Our
presentation
at
the
Forum
will

draw
on
our
work
on
Hamlet,
As
You
Like
It
and
A
Midsummer
Night’s
Dream
to

demonstrate
their
underlying
allegorical
meanings.
They
have
massive
implications
for

Christian
fundamentalism
and
its
impact
on
politics
and
society”.

About
Amelia
Bassano:
Amelia
Bassano
Lanier
(1569‐1645)
came
from
a
family
of

Venetian
Marrano
Jews
of
Moroccan
origin.
They
became
musicians
at
the
Elizabethan

court
and
subsequently
played
music
for
the
theater
company
that
performed
the

Shakespearean
plays.
She
was
the
so‐called
‘Dark
Lady’
of
the
sonnets,
the
mistress
to

the
man
in
charge
of
the
English
theater,
and
the
first
woman
to
publish
a
book
of

original
poetry
Salve
Deus
Rex
Judaeorum
(1611).
In
addition,
her
‘literary
signatures’,
a

device
used
in
classical
literature,
have
been
found
on
half
a
dozen
of
the

Shakespearean
plays.
Her
authorship
makes
sense
of
many
otherwise
inexplicable

features
of
the
plays,
such
as
their
references
to
Hebrew
texts,
the
fluency
they

demonstrate
in
Italian,
their
knowledge
of
music,
knowledge
about
Venice,
their
use
as

sources
of
books
written
for
young
women,
and
even
the
unusual
number
of
women

dressing
as
men.
