Beast Cuttermill Attachments

SAWTOOTH CUTTER HOLDER
This break-away tool holder, designed like a sawtooth,
regulates the depth of cut and provides some protection
from foreign materials. Production is maximized while
making a consistent product and protecting the mill.

SAWTOOTH CUTTER WITH RAKER INSERT

A raker ahead of the cutting tool regulates the length of cut
while providing the breakaway tool holder some protection
from rocks, steel and other foreign materials. The raker is
available as a replaceable insert.

WOULD YOU RATHER USE TO CUT DOWN A TREE?

The cutter holder limits the bite of the cutting, splitting or

grinding tool which is important in controlling the size of
the product and helps maximize engine horsepower by
not taking too large of a bite. The fixed break-away tool
holders are heavy enough to cut through most materials,
including nails, spikes and metal. When striking materials
such as rock and heavy metal, the tool holders bend
back out of the way, protecting the cuttermill and limiting
damage to only a few holders and a few bits. Damaged
bits can be replaced in minutes. The tool holders attach to
the arms with two Grade 8 bolts. Should foreign material
heavily impact the tool holder and break, the bolts will keep
the tool holder in place. This will prevent the broken piece
from ruining any more holders or cutting tools.

Beast TOOTH OPTIONS

Teeth are selected based on the material being processed,

the amount of contaminants in the material and the size of
the desired end product. Cutting teeth produce a blocky
type product while splitters produce a more shredded
type product.
Cutting and splitting teeth are ideal for big materials while
splitting and grinding teeth are known for their dependability.
Cutting and splitting teeth will improve performance and
lower operating costs when processing large materials.
Two different types of teeth are often used in
combination to maximize performance and to deliver a
specific end product. Sixty teeth are standard in the 2680,
3680 and 4680 with a 30 tooth setup offered as an option.
Eighty teeth are standard in the 5680.
Improved teeth and new tooth options significantly lower
tooth wear costs, increase production and provide new
options for sizing the end product. New product sizes
improve the quality and value of the Beasts end product.
What has always been the best feature of the Beast
cuttermill is that you can change teeth to yield the desired

XT Extender Line of Teeth

For the Beast Cuttermill. Now featuring:

Better carbide for the cutters and splitters.

Better bonding process that makes it virtually impossible to separate
the cutting or splitting bit from the tooth.
The super fan are teeth made from a forging design and the fan is
larger. The fan protects the tooth bolt and the cutterbody where
the tooth mounts. The fan teeth limit the amount of material that
falls below the teeth to the cutterbodies, cutterbody bolts and mill,
decreasing wear to those items and areas.
The fan teeth increase the control of the bite making the Beast run
smoother and help push material through the screen.

XT Double Splitter Tooth

Double your pleasure double your fun!
This dual splitter tooth provides twice
the cutting surface as our popular

This hydraulic thrower is great for fully loading open end trailers,
broadcasting material over a site or building tremendous piles.
The thrower swivels, tilts, and folds under the conveyor.

30 FOLDING DISCHARGE CONVEYOR

The 30 conveyor discharges to a height of 17, 6 and is standard
for all models except the 2680, where it is available as an option.

SCREENS
Screens as small as 3/4 work well in the Beast,
enabling you to produce as course or as fine a
product as youd like. The concave gate also
serves as a screen to provide plenty of screening
surface. Changing screens is a snap. They slide
through a side panel and into position with the
assistance of an electric powered winch, or with
the new Screen Changing Arm.
3 SPEED INFEED CONVEYOR DRIVE
A three-speed infeed conveyor drive maximizes
engine horsepower and regulates particle size,
allowing you to increase the speed for less dense
materials or slow the speed for larger, denser
materials. Changing the feed speed will also affect
the size of the cut and end product.
INFEED CONVEYOR
The infeed conveyor hydraulically backs up to
allow easy access to the debris augers.
THE BEASTS ALMOST RUN THEMSELVES
The Auto Feed System governor automatically
stops the feed and backs it out of the cut when
the engine lugs to a set minimum RPM and then
automatically restarts the feed when the engine
reaches its maximum RPM. If the material will
fit into the conveyor, it should feed through the
machine without hang-up as long as the piece
is not larger than the mills infeed opening. Odd
shaped pieces, greater than the infeed opening,
can be processed by partially cutting the piece
and rolling it though the mill. The infeed conveyor
and the top wheel will move in opposite directions
to turn material. There is no limit to the length of
material that can be cut.

ANVIL CONVEYOR CHAIN
ELIMINATES HANG-UPS

A rugged, heavy-duty track type conveyor

chain serves as a continuous anvil and
will take abuse from processing heavy
materials. No anvil is used in the initial
breakdown, eliminating material hang-ups.
The mill turns down, cutting against the
conveyor chain. This chain should provide
years of dependable service.

DEBRIS AUGERS CLEAN

UP AREA AROUND MACHINE

Slow moving debris augers, mounted

under the infeed conveyor, collect
materials as they fall from the end of the
feed conveyor and force them into the
mill for processing. This limits the mess
around the machine. More specifically, it
controls spillage and improves production.

MAGNETIC HEAD PULLEY

The magnetic head pulley is especially

efficient in removing metal contaminants.
It is standard on all units except the 2680
where it is offered as an option.

REPLACEABLE BOLT-IN
ROLL COVER

All 3680s and 4680s are equipped with a

replaceable bolt-in roll cover for the mill
housing, made of hardened steel.

HYDRAULICALLY ACTIVATED
GATE REJECTS CONTAMINANTS

This gate allows the operator to quickly

open and close a concave to the screening
chamber to reject foreign materials. The
Beast will often produce a uniform product
with the concave gate open. Materials
containing light metal, such as pallets,
can be processed with the gate open.

MODEL 3680

This 3680 (shown above), with 700 horsepower and unique

cutting action, works a lot like a whole tree chipper. But,
unlike a whole tree chipper, the 3680 has a greater diameter
capacity and substantially larger opening for processing
limby material. The Beast will tolerate stones and dirt, unlike
a whole tree chipper. The Beasts feed rate is slower than a
whole tree chipper, because of its infeed opening, but will
process nearly the same amount of material.

The Big Bite drive system, standard equipment since Spring 04, is a major
advancement for the 2680 and 3680 Beasts.

FUEL SAVINGS FACT

The fuel-efficient Beast cuttermill uses up to
14 gallons per hour less fuel than a conventional
grinding head, which can add up to over
$50,000 in fuel savings per year.

The drive slows the RPM of the head, vastly improving performance and the quality of the end product, while lowering operating
costs. Cutter teeth and cutter body wear is reduced because the wear parts move more slowly through the cut, resulting in lower
operating costs. Increased torque means more power, a quality needed especially when grinding larger diameter materials.
As a result, the engine lugs less and fuel consumption is dramatically reduced. Slowing the heads RPM, along with the variable
feed conveyor system, enables the Beast to push material further into the cut, producing a larger, shredded-type mulch for those
desiring such a product. The three-speed conveyor drive option lets the operator change the size of material being produced by
simply changing the speed of the infeed conveyor. The slower the conveyor speed, the finer the cut.

The Color Critter II uses a dry, granular coloring pigment with a precise, electronicallycontrolled metering system that operates off the Beasts electronic controls. This ensures
the right amount of water and pigment flow. The coloring system straddles the infeed
conveyor and bolts to the infeed conveyors support posts. The colorant hopper slides
down into guide posts located on the Beasts main frame. Five discharge ports evenly
spread colorant over the material.

The quantity of colorant being discharged is easily adjusted by simply turning a knob that
opens and closes the ports. The rate at which the colorant is discharged is controlled by
the speed of the infeed conveyor.If the feed system stops, so does the flow of colorant.
A metering gate ensures a controlled flow of material to the colorizer. The coloring system
and infeed automatically stop when the colorant hopper is empty. One set of spray nozzles
apply the 0 to 8 gallons of water per minute normally required to process green waste.

the ultimate waste reduction machine

The 5680 features a 65.5 diameter by 83 wide cuttermill with a 50 x 80 opening.
This hungry Beast is our most productive grinder and is absolutely the best high production
machine for big logs and stumps. The 5680 will process more than 700 cubic yards or 250 tons per
hour, depending on the material being processed.

The second set of nozzles supply up to an additional 14 gallons of water per minute that
may be required when coloring ground pallets or construction waste. Wet, green waste
can often be colored without adding any water. Garden hoses supply water to the spray
nozzles.
The colorant hopper holds in excess of 2,000 lbs. of granules. Multiple hoppers are
recommended to quickly switch from one color to another, limiting downtime due to
refilling the hopper. Colored mulch exits the machine nearly dry and can be bagged shortly
thereafter. Oxidizing pigments penetrate the material to provide a rich, long lasting color
that resists fading, allowing you to color earlier in the season.

Installation is simple.
It takes about four hours to initially wire the
colorizers control panel to the Beast. Once this
initial wiring is complete, final installation takes
about 15 minutes.

Power requirements 110 volt current.

A generator is often used to supply power to the
colorizer and to the water pump when operating in
a remote location.

High production
A 500-HP Beast can color as much as 200 cubic
yards/hour in the final grind, depending on the
desired product size. Colorant costs are usually
under $3.00/cubic yard of finished product for
most applications. Colorant is contained in the
grinder with minimal spillage.
