1. Long Term Planning (LTP)

Provides detailed off-line examination of planning scenarios
simulating
full
production,
purchasing
and
costing
implication.
LTP

provides a method for:

Simulation of future demand
Leveling capacity
Planning costs
Preview for purchasing
Preview for inventory management

Long Term Planning Process:-

LTP process has FIVE major steps, they are

1. Create scenario
2. Define forecasted Plan in the scenario
3. Run simulated Material Requirement Planning for the
scenario
4. Analyze the result.
5. Transfer the results to Purchasing and
costing
information system
Below is the graphical view of those steps

Planning scenario may contain actual orders and forecasted

demand.
Note: - forecasted demand refers to the PIR. Recollect our
discussion on how to create PIR. These demands may be
created as inactive version

Simulated planned orders are generated as a result of MRP

run for specific scenario.

Results are analyzed and transferred to the information

system.

Long Term Planning step by step Procedure:-

Note: - Below SAP data (Material code number, plant,

controlling area) are example. You may please use your
data (Material code number, Plant, controlling area, PIR)
from your system.

Create Planning Scenario MS31

Note: - Before proceeding to this, please create a Planned
Independent Requirement of inactive version through Demand
Management. Explained in the PIR creation
