DETAIL DESCRIPITION OF ITEMS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF

20" DN 1000 PSIG PIPELINE FROM MONOHORDI TO


NARSINGDI

TEM NO. 1.0 MOBILIZATION & DEMOBILIZATION


The item includes mobilization of Contractor's personnel, equipments, machinaries etc to site
before commencement of construction work and demobilization of the same after successful
and completion of work. The item also includes erection of furnished site office and
arrangement of 01(one) no. of Microbus and 01(one) no. of pick-up with P.O.L, supply of
5(five) sets of Apron (with Fluorescent Strap) and Helmet (with monogram of TGTDCL) for
TGTDCL personnel for ensuring close supervision of the construction work.
TEM NO. 2.0 HAULING AND CARRYING
Hauling and Carrying of line pipes, valves, coating and wrapping materials, fittings and all
other pipeline materials (to be supplied by company) from Demra or any other Titas store to
site. The line pipes and all other materials shall be loaded and unloaded by using crane,
storage of pipes and materials at different locations (Pipeyard to be arranged by the contractor
at his own cost).
ITEM NO. 3.0 LAYING
The item includes preparation of R.O.W (i.e leveling, grading, pegging, etc), stringing of line
pipe along the R.O.W, clearing the entire pipeline route of all sorts of structures, construction
materials etc, cleaning of pipes, application of coat (with primer), wrapping/ re-wrapping/
double wrapping with 2-ply inner wrap/ 2-ply outer wrap PE-Tape (Tape & Primer will be
supplied by the company), trenching in any kind of soil/hard core/water bound macadam
surface/brick-paved road/ asphalt road etc, breaking of brick wall/CC/RCC with in the trench,
providing earthen bund/embankments including supply of earth if necessary, bailing out of
water(if any), digging of trial holes if necessary, laying of pipe at a minimum cover 1.22m
(4ft) from the top of the pipe surface, lowering-in, back filling, tamping etc Complete in all
respect as per specifications, longitudinal sectional drawings, route map, cross-sectional
drawings etc., design and direction of Engineer-in-Charge as per standard drawing(s). The
item also includes cleaning up of R.O.W. after completion of pipelaying work.

ITEM NO. 4.0 WELDING:


The item includes butt-welding of line pipe/casing pipe, pipes to fittings, fittings to fittings,
pipe to valves as per specification, including beveling, cutting, fabrication, end wall thickness
reducing, re-beveling as required for any reason etc. complete in all respect as per
drawing/design and direction of Engineer-in-charge. The cost of electrodes and any other
materials required for the work is included within the scope of this item.

ITEM NO. 5.0 RADIOGRAPHY:


Welded joints will be subjected to radiography & the test will be carried out at the
contractor expense. The radiography test may be done either by X-ray using crawler mounted
X-ray machine or by using gamma radiography source. The method of radiography shall be
carried out as per the requirement of the relevant section of API 1104 standard. Rollpac
industrial X-ray film shall be used for radiography. Processed film along with test report shall
have to be handed over to the employer for necessary interpretation and final acceptance.
Acceptance criteria for the examination of weld will be API 1104 standard. Defective weld
shall be cut or rejected and re-tested. Radiography contractor must posses valid certificate
from Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission. Relevant documents and list of manpower
shall be submitted along with tender document. This item covers all necessary cost including
mobilization of material, manpower, source, vehicles, dark room facilities, water, electricity
and any ancillary materials/services.
ITEM NO. 6.0 RIVER CROSSING:
The item includes crossing of Horidoa river near Narsingdhi Valve Station No.12) by open
cut method (Extra over item No.03, 04, 08) with necessary excavation as per design depth
(minimum cover=10 from the top of the pipe surface) by adopting any means including
dewatering by pump (if necessary), providing 3.0 thick RCC (1:2:4) coating as per standard
drawing TGSTD 029. RCC coating must have best workmanship, smooth finishing with no
air-entrapment with proper curing. The item also includes bank protection on both side of the
river and after pipe laying work with Shal-bullah (appx. 25' long, 5" dia @ 3' centre to
centre) including driving with monkeys, cross-bracing with wood (apprx. 3" x 2" size),
bamboo, placing drum sheets, fixing with gazals, G.I. wires and M.S. bars etc. Erection of
dam on both side of the stream whenever necessary with shall-bullah, Drum sheet,
wood/bamboo cross-bracing, supply of requisite volume of soil also included in the item. The
RCC coated pipes should be placed in trench without damaging RCC coated surface using
required machinery as per approved work method. The item also includes supply of all
materials i.e. drums, steel ropes, nylon ropes etc. arrangement/hiring of local machineries i.e.
drag liner, dewatering pump, crane, chain pulley etc. The minimum cover will be 10' from the

top of the pipe surface at the deepest point of the river bed. The measurement of river
crossing will be the length between the centre of the top bends of both sides of the river.
ITEM NO. 7.0 CANAL / KHAL/POND CROSSING :
The item includes canal/pond/water course crossing at different locations along the pipe line
route (Extra over item 03, 04, 08) by open cut method with necessary excavation as per
design depth (minimum cover= 6' from the top of the pipe surface) by adopting any
means including dewatering by pump (if necessary), providing 3.0" thick RCC (1:2:4)
coating as per standard drawing TGSTD 029. RCC coating must have best
workmanship, smooth finishing with no air-entrapment with proper curing, erection of
dam on the both side of the pipe crossing. Placing of pipe in proper position,
maintaining proper slopes, permanent restoration of banks stream to its original
position etc, complete in all respect as per drawing design and the direction of the
Engineerin-charge. The item also includes supply of all materials i.e shal-bullah,
drum-sheet bamboo etc. arrangement/hiring of all machineries/equipments etc. Only
the concrete coated portion will be consider for measurement of canal/khal/pond
crossing.
ITEM NO. 8.0 RCC COATING :
The item includes application of continuous reinforced cement concerte (1:2:4) coating of
thickness 3.0" with mesh wire net and re-inforcement over the wrapped pipe as per
standard drawing No. TGSTD 029 and in accordance with drawing/design and
direction of Engineer-in-charge. The item includes supply/arrangement of all
materials/machineries required for providing the RCC coat.
ITEM NO. 9.0 MAJOR ROAD CROSSING:
Major road crossing by thrust/augur/jack boring method (extra over item no. 03 and 04) with
installation of casing pipe at different locations as per designed depth (minimum cover 6'
from the top of the casing pipe to the road surface). The item also includes placing of pipe in
proper position, welding /installation of vent pipes with two coats of red oxide painting with
supply of paint, fitting and fixing of insulating spacer, end casing seals, providing permanent
indication boards at crossing etc, complete in all respect as per specification, drawing/design
and direction of Engineer in charge. All necessary equipment in this connection shall have to
be arranged by the Contractor at his own cost. The crossing shall have to be carried out by the
Contractor without minimum disruption to the traffic movement. The reinstatement of work
site following the construction of road crossing shall be made in accordance with the
requirements of the Road Authority. Immediately following the installation of the line pipe in

the casing pipe, the Contractor shall carry out the tests to establish whether an electric contact
exists between the line pipe and the casing to ensure that there is no electric contact exists.
ITEM NO. 10.0 FABRICATION & INSTALLATION OF SCRAPER STATION/
VALVE STATIONS :
The item includes complete mechanical fabrication & installation, civil construction etc. of
Scraper station(launching), Valve station & Scraper station(receiving) at 3(three)
different locations namely Monohordi, Munsefer Char & Narsingdi. The Scraper
station at Monohordi & Norsingdi also consists of necessary scraper launching/
receiving facilities. Detailed works involvement are as follow:
a) Above the ground pipeline construction
i) Welding
The item includes butt-welding of pipe/casing pipe, pipes to fittings, fittings
to fittings, pipe to valves as per specification, including beveling, cutting,
fabrication, end wall thickness reducing, re-beveling as required for any
reason etc. complete in all respect as per drawing/design and direction of
Engineer-in-charge. The cost of consumable materials like electrode,
grinding disc, power brush, jute, cotton, rope etc. is within the scope of the
item. The item also includes arrangement/hiring of all equipment/machinery
required for the welding work.

ii) Fabrication &/Installation


The item includes cutting and beveling of pipes and fittings, end
preparation, wall thickness reducing, recutting, rebeveling required for any
reason. The cost of oxy-acetylene gas and grinding disc required for cutting
and beveling operation is included in this item. The item also includes
installation of all sorts of equipments/valves etc. with supply of anchor
bolts, steel plates, sliding folie, insulating plate etc. complete as per
specification, drawing/design and direction of Engineer-in-charge.
iii) Painting
The item includes cleaning and painting of of all surfaces of the newly
constructed above ground piping/valves/equipments by Aluminium
paint(Burger/Elite) together with red lead primer etc. as per drawing design

and direction of Engineer-in-charge. The color and quality of the paint to be


used must be approved by the company.
b) Under ground pipe line construction
The item includes trenching in any kind of soil, breaking of underground structure
within the trench , bailing out of water(if any), digging of bell-holes and trial holes
(wherever necessary), cleaning of pipe surface, coating with primer, wraping/rewrapping/double wrapping (if required) with 2-ply inner wrap,2-ply outer wrap
PE-tape(Tape and primer will be supplied by the company), laying of line pipe at a
minimum cover of 1.22 meter(4ft) from the top of the pipe surface, back-filling,
tamping, installation of underground valves 9 to be coated with Zinc-Oxide coating
which will be supplied by the contractor) etc. complete as per specification
drawing/design and direction of the Engineer-in-charge.
c) Tie-in-operation
Item includes both above ground and under ground tie-in of newly
constructed/fabricated valve/scraper station (i) with the existing 24"DN x 1000
psig transmission pipelines valve at Monhordi valve station, (ii) with the existing
20"DN x 1000 psig transmission pipelines at Narsingdi valve-12 premises as per
drawing/design and direction of Engineer-in-charge. The item includes closure of
necessary valves within the and outside the valve compound, purging of gas,
placement of gas bags, charging of nitrogen gas to ensure inert atmosphere,
addition earth cutting, cutting of pipeline section, grinding, beveling etc and butt
welding of the section as per drawing/design and direction of Engineer-in-charge.
In both operation, the contractor will ensure proper precautionary measures and
assist the company during operation. The company will arrange requisite quantity
of nitrogen gas and carbon-di-oxide cylinders, gas bags etc.

d) Radiography
Welded joints will be subjected to radiography & the test will be carried out at the

e) Hydrostatic testing
Hydrostatic testing of the valve & scraper station at a pressure of 1.5 times the
design pressure (D.P=1000 psig), dewatering, drying, detecting, removing,
replacing the defective length and retesting, making provision for the test points etc
including all auxiliary works in this connection, complete for commissioning as per
specification, drawing/design and direction of Engineer-in-charge. All necessary
equipments such as Air-compressor, Hydraulic pump, Hydrostatic testing unit,
recordier etc shall have to be arranged by the contractor at site on his own cost. The
company will arrange requisite quantity of nitrogen cylinders, gas bags etc. the
contractor will ensure availability of requisite volume of water at his own cost &
effort.
f) Civil works
The item includes i)excavation of earth for foundation trenches up to required
depth with leveling, ramming, preparation of base, bailing out of water etc.,
ii)reinforced cement concrete works (1:2:4) for the foundation of valves, Pig
launching and receiving trap, pipe support, vent stack etc with Portland cement,
best quality coarse sand, stone chips including breaking, screening, shuttering,
mixing the aggregates, casting informs and curing, iii) supply, fabrication and
fixing of mild steel billet rod as reinforcement in concrete with straightening and
cleaning the rust, binding and placing in position with supply of G.I. wire, iv) earth
filling in foundation trenches in 150 mm layer with earth available, watering,
leveling and consolidating each layer upto finfshed level v) supply and placement
of stone shingles(1 down graded) covering 4 thick the entire station etc. all
complete as per drawing/design and the direction of the Engineer in-charge.
ITEM NO.11.0 PIGGING, PURGING AND HYDRAUSTATIC TESTING
The item includes cleaning, pigging, purging, hydraustatic testing, drying etc of the entire
pipeline at a test pressure of 1.5 x Design pressure (Design pressure =1000 psig). The
item also includes gauging of entire pipeline (gauging plate will be supplied by the
Contractor), detecting, removing and replacing the defective length and retesting
including all auxiliary works in this connection etc complete in all respect as per
drawing/design and direction of Engineer-in-Charge. All necessary equipments such as
air compressor, hydarulic pump, recorder etc P.O.L required for operating the
machinaries and other materials (expecting Pig) will have to be arranged by the
contractor to the site at his own cost. The contractor shall arrange proper supply of
requisite quantam of water at his own cost during testing.
The entire testing operation will be done in two sections for which one pair of permanent Pig
launcher/receiver will be supplied by the company, which will be installed at Narsingdi

& Monohordi valve & scraper station. The Contactor shall fabricate the remaining
temporary Pig launcher/ Receiver ( to be installed at Munsefer Char for testing
purpouse only) For which materials will be provided by the Company. The company
will supply requisite no. of "PIGs".
ITEM NO.12.0 CONSTRUCTION/RE-LOCATION OF MARKER POST:
The item includes re-location of marker post, previously fabricated and installed by the
company along the Acquisition strip boundary. The item also includes required no. of
marker post which will be newly constructed, fabricated & installed along the total
acquisition strip boundary (30 ft). This item also includes taking out of existing marker
post by excavation of earth, hauling & carrying all marker posts (existing & newly
constructed) to the new position and installation thereof by digging earth,fixing
property, backfilling etc. as per drawing/design and the direction of Engineer-in-charge
(ref. Tech.Spec.No.TR.CON-0120.0).The constractor shall take proper precautionary
measures to avoid any damage of the marker post during hauling, carrying, installation/
re-installation process. If there any damage the contractor will have to replace the
marker post.
