The Gospel and Personal Reflection

Life is a long journey that requires endurance. Endurance often provides an individual
with an opportunity to receive blessing beyond comprehension. The Bible asserts that living is a
process that entails struggle and suffering. Through suffering, one gets the opportunity to
approach life in accordance to Gods teachings. 2 Corinthian 12:7-10 explain that God can
perfect ones weaknesses into strengths. This implies that Gods grace is sufficient and powerful
in peoples lives. This is promoted by the work of the Holy Spirit sent by God to people living on
earth. The universe is characterized by sin thus creating the need for people to repent in order to
please God. Therefore, God is expecting every person to respect, forgive, and love one another.
This will help people to recognize their weaknesses and strengths. Gods expectation further
helps an individual to instill self-esteem and love in the long run. Therefore, this paper explains
how the Holy Spirit worked in my life to transform my weaknesses into strengths.
I changed from being Egocentric to Generous
In the past, I used to think about myself and pulled everything to me. I thought this was a
good life where I could enjoy my hard work. However, God requires people to share with one
another during challenging times. Things turned around when I attended a church and became
attentive to the sermon. Jesus has the power to change those who are selfish to generous people
who can share and are compassionate about one another. Fischer (2006) asserts that human
beings are both eternal and personal thus an individual will experience eternal destiny alone for
better or worse. On the other hand, people are spiritual beings whose existence on earth is
transcends to the physical world. Therefore, I received the sermon delightfully and trusted for
Gods power to act on my life. This was a nice experience because God created us in his image

and likeness hence making us unique. Therefore, I surrendered my life to God so that my
strength could be perfect in weakness.
The Holy Spirit visited me in a dream and made me perceive my weaknesses from a
positive perspective. The decision to start sharing my possession generously enabled me to
identify that human beings need to love one another. In addition, God gifted people so that they
could use the talent or gift to improve the lives of others. I shared money, food, and cloths with
other students from poor families. Through the sharing, I realized I was receiving more blessings.
Although there are people who took advantage of my generosity, I asked God to give me the
humility and perseverance. According to Fischer (2006), it is important to create mutual
understanding with others through interaction and sharing. This is because mutual understanding
will allow people to share their successes and failure for the glory of the Lord.
Many students appreciated what I was doing though they thought I was sharing my
possession for the sake of being famous. Given that it was students election period, some
students soiled my name and perceived me as a threat. However, there was no need for me to
either complain or explain myself to the students because I knew the Holy Spirit was doing some
transformation in my life. In fact, Fischer (2006) reports that personality test is not an accurate
means to measure the human beings. In other words, the creator knows and understands what we
do in His quest to exalt Himself. For example, God allows suffering and pain to inflict human
beings to prepare them for eternal life. Moreover, suffering allows the Holy Spirit and the power
of Christ to manifest on human beings. In most cases, people think that God punishes people
through suffering. On the contrary, God sent His Holy Spirit to protect and guide people to live
according to the Gods commandments. For example, if people love each other, then there will
be no adultery, murder, or stealing other peoples property. This implies that being generous and

perceiving every person as equal will be a unifying factor for me. As such, I needed God to
recognize my efforts other than others.
The Grace I Received from Generosity
Jesus taught the Israelites to invest in heavenly treasures since He knew that depending
on earthly treasures could force human beings to sin against their Creator. Jesus further taught
people that they should not work hard for material needs rather be concerned about eternal life.
The only means through which one can attain eternal life is by allowing the Holy Spirit to
control ones conscious. Moreover, following Gods will in every aspect of my life contribute to
better lifestyle. I have so far derived many benefits from my generous and sharing acts. For
example, God has open many avenues such as becoming successful in the college, relating well
with the staff, and establishing good mutual relationship with my fellow students as a result of
being generous and sharing what I have and know with others. This has enabled me to forget my
past life and embrace a new beginning. For example, most people currently perceive me as a new
creature and one who is ready to fight for Gods kingdom. The Holy Spirit has continued to build
and inculcate other godly characters which I did not have in the past. For example, I was
pessimistic about becoming successful in the college. However, the Holy Spirit has guided me to
realize self motivation. 2 Corinthian 12:9 asserts that God offers abundant and sufficient grace
that enables people to receive the strength that they need to move forward in life. This is because
Jesus resurrected from death after paying the debt of our sins through is death. Therefore, God
sent the Holy Spirit to walk with the human beings in their new life.

THE GOSPEL AND PERSONAL REFLECTION

From Pessimistic to Self-Motivated

2 Corinthian 12:10 emphasizes that God saves a person who is ready to take pleasures in
infirmities, persecution, and distress for Christs sake. This is because God gave his begotten son
to suffer because of peoples sins. Therefore, from Christs suffering, human beings have become
free from bondage such as the one I was in. I prayed and fasted for days before God offered me
spiritual revelation through which I became confident and become self-motivated. The life of
pessimistic is discouraging since I cannot picture positive things in life. For example, since I
failed in two courses, I felt this was the end of my road to success. However, the presence of the
Holy Spirit in my life has enabled me to remain determined and aspire to achieve high success in
life. For example, I desired to be a corporate manager in the future. However, the dream
disappeared along the way when I realized I could not pass major courses guaranteeing the
corporate managers position. Fischer (2006) asserts that developing positive personality is
fulfilling gods intention in our lives. This is because experience shows that an individual can
change the stunted past to a prosperous future. Gods intention is based on the fact that every
individual should succeed in life regardless of the situation. Fischer (2006) argues that people
should not keep on regretting about their past rather consul with the Holy Spirit to guide them to
recognize their endeavors. This is because individuality is just an illusion which has an end.
Therefore, people should strive hard to ensure they achieve better life.
First, I started developing self esteem and self determination when I could stand in front
of other students and debate on the current issues affecting the institution. This assisted me to
control my breath and speech hence eliminating the fear from me. As I continued practicing
speaking, I gained courage and confidence to face many people and give expressive speech.
Although I was learning in the process, I felt energy and power within me. As such, I tried many

THE GOSPEL AND PERSONAL REFLECTION

things in life to enable me become success. For example, I pioneered the formation of the
Christian Union in the college. I was the chairman of the union before I provided the opportunity
for others to exercise their calling. The Holy Spirit guided me to treat people equally regardless
of race, color, or age. Fischer (2006) asserts that Gods business is to draw people together
through Jesus Christ. This is because Jesus Christ preached love among people. For example, the
greatest command is love your neighbor as yourself. This is meant to prevent people from
perceiving others as worthless and inferior. Therefore, I had to provide good leadership by
accepting that I could not lead forever. The change in leadership will also provide others with an
opportunity to identify their role in the society.
The Holy Spirit taught me the importance of holding onto vision in life. That is, it was
the right thing to take an initiative to deal with fear by engaging in debate. Self-motivation also
helped me to strengthen my personality by visualizing bigger pictures and thought. I realized that
once a person allows the Holy Spirit to take control of every aspect in his/her life, it becomes
easy to conform to Gods teaching. Satan is fighting hard to draw people into his kingdom. As
such, people cannot fight alone without the armor of God, the word and the spirit. In other
words, the armor of God is the Holy Spirit who fights on behalf of a person who believes in God
and lives according to Gods will. Therefore, I will respect God and ask Him to continue
strengthening me to live in line with His teaching.
