Introduction
This report is to present the design of the drainage system for the project:
Cadangan Membina 1 Blok Rumah Pangsa Kos Rendah 12 Tingkat Dan 6 Blok
Rumah Pangsa Kos Rendah 19 Tingkat Yang Mengandungi 1904 Unit Kediaman
Serta Kemudahan Kemudahan Penduduk Di Atas Lot PT 4392 Dan 4396,
Mukim Petaling Dalam Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur Untuk Tetuan ASM
Development Sdn. Bhd.
The scope of work this report to include the designing of the capacity of the road side
drain and main drain.
The presentation of this report is for the submission approval from Jabatan Saliran Dan
Pengurusan Sungai, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur.

2.0

Site Location
The project site is located at Bandar Tasik Selatan near Sg. Besi Army Camp. The site
currently flat area with most of its land covered by bushes. Figure 1 in appendix A shown
the location plan and site plan of the project area. At present, one earth drain is running
through out the project site from Military land reserve to the existing main RC drain
2.1m x 2.4m.

3.0 Design Reference


The report describes design standard, criteria and procedure, which are used in the
hydrological and hydraulic analysis for the drainage system involved in the project. In
general, the design guideline and criteria are in accordance with the hydrological
procedures (HP) and Manual Saliran Mesra Alam published by Jabatan Pengairan dan
Saliran, Malaysia.
The design process generally involve the following main steps:
Select design ARI for minor and major storm.
Divide catchment into segment of homogeneous land use or surface slope.
Estimate Overland Flow time.
Estimate flow time for all other flow components within the sub-catchments.

Design ARI for the proposed box culvert is 50 year and surface drain are designed to
cater 10 years storm discharges.

Culverts are designed to allow the 50 years ARI with maximum capacity up to 60
cumec. Pre cast reinforced concrete structures are proposed. Following criteria are
adhered in culvert design.

The existing earth drain shall be sized to the post-development condition upstream.
Rainwater runoff from existing drains and culverts, which are outside of the
development area, shall be maintained and discharged directly to the diverted stream.
The stream realignment will be finally channeled and discharged to the existing 2100mm
x 2400mm box culvert located to the North of the project.
3.2 Hydraulic Design for Surface Drains
Adequate sizes of surface drains are provided for all types of road sections in order to
avoid erosion and building up of water table. Generally, there is no tidal effect to the
roadside drains along the road and terminal.
Following criteria are adhered in the design of surface drains.
