All products, computer systems, dates, and figures specified are preliminary based on current expectations, and are subject to change without notice. This
document contains information on products in the design phase of development.
Results have been estimated based on internal Intel analysis and are provided for informational purposes only. Any difference in system hardware or
software design or configuration may affect actual performance
Intel, processors, chipsets, and server boards may contain design defects or errors known as errata, which may cause the product to deviate from
published specifications. Current characterized errata are available on request.
Any code names featured are used internally within Intel to identify products that are in development and not yet publicly announced for release.

Intel processor numbers are not a measure of performance. Processor numbers differentiate features within each processor family, not across different
processor families. Click here for details
Requires an Intel HT Technology enabled system, check with your PC manufacturer. Performance will vary depending on the specific hardware and
software used. For more information including details on which processors support HT Technology, visit http://www.intel.com/info/hyperthreading
Requires a system with Intel Turbo Boost Technology capability. Consult your PC manufacturer. Performance varies depending on hardware, software
and system configuration. For more information, visit http://www.intel.com/technology/turboboost
No computer system can provide absolute security under all conditions. Intel Trusted Execution Technology (Intel TXT) requires a computer system
with Intel Virtualization Technology, an Intel TXT-enabled processor, chipset, BIOS, Authenticated Code Modules and an Intel TXT-compatible measured
launched environment (MLE). Intel TXT also requires the system to contain a TPM v1.s. For more information, visit
http://www.intel.com/technology/security. In addition, Intel TXT requires that the original equipment manufacturer provides TPM functionality, which
requires a TPM-supported BIOS. TPM functionality must be initialized and may not be available in all countries.
Intel AES-NI requires a computer system with an AES-NI enabled processor, as well as non-Intel software to execute the instructions in the correct
sequence. AES-NI is available on Westmere family of processors (Westmere-EP and Westmere-EX). For availability, consult your reseller or system
manufacturer. For more information, see http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-advanced-encryption-standard-instructions-aes-ni/
Intel Virtualization Technology requires a computer system with an enabled Intel processor, BIOS, virtual machine monitor (VMM). Functionality,
performance or other benefits will vary depending on hardware and software configurations. Software applications may not be compatible with all
operating systems. Consult your PC manufacturer. For more information, visit http://www.intel.com/go/virtualization

Software and workloads used in performance tests may have been optimized for performance only on Intel microprocessors. Performance tests, such as SYSmark
and MobileMark, are measured using specific computer systems, components, software, operations and functions. Any change to any of those factors may cause
the results to vary. You should consult other information and performance tests to assist you in fully evaluating your contemplated purchases, including the
performance of that product when combined with other products. For more complete information about performance and benchmark results, visit
www.intel.com/benchmarks
Intel does not control or audit the design or implementation of third party benchmarks or Web sites referenced in this document. Intel encourages all of its
customers to visit the referenced Web sites or others where similar performance benchmarks are reported and confirm whether the referenced benchmarks are
accurate and reflect performance of systems available for purchase.
Relative performance is calculated by assigning a baseline value of 1.0 to one benchmark result, and then dividing the actual benchmark result for the baseline
platform into each of the specific benchmark results of each of the other platforms, and assigning them a relative performance number that correlates with the
performance improvements reported.

Optimization Notice
Optimization Notice
Intel compilers, associated libraries and associated development tools may include or utilize
options that optimize for instruction sets that are available in both Intel and non-Intel
microprocessors (for example SIMD instruction sets), but do not optimize equally for non-Intel
microprocessors. In addition, certain compiler options for Intel compilers, including some that
are not specific to Intel micro-architecture, are reserved for Intel microprocessors. For a
detailed description of Intel compiler options, including the instruction sets and specific
microprocessors they implicate, please refer to the Intel Compiler User and Reference Guides
under Compiler Options." Many library routines that are part of Intel compiler products are
more highly optimized for Intel microprocessors than for other microprocessors. While the
compilers and libraries in Intel compiler products offer optimizations for both Intel and Intelcompatible microprocessors, depending on the options you select, your code and other factors,
you likely will get extra performance on Intel microprocessors.
Intel compilers, associated libraries and associated development tools may or may not optimize
to the same degree for non-Intel microprocessors for optimizations that are not unique to Intel
microprocessors. These optimizations include Intel Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (Intel
SSE2), Intel Streaming SIMD Extensions 3 (Intel SSE3), and Supplemental Streaming SIMD
Extensions 3 (Intel SSSE3) instruction sets and other optimizations. Intel does not guarantee
the availability, functionality, or effectiveness of any optimization on microprocessors not
manufactured by Intel. Microprocessor-dependent optimizations in this product are intended for
use with Intel microprocessors.
While Intel believes our compilers and libraries are excellent choices to assist in obtaining the
best performance on Intel and non-Intel microprocessors, Intel recommends that you evaluate
other compilers and libraries to determine which best meet your requirements. We hope to win
your business by striving to offer the best performance of any compiler or library; please let us
know if you find we do not.

Mission Critical is Migrating to Xeon
Vertical markets once dominated by UNIXcentric vendors - telcos and financial services are

The Unix market has been, and will continue to be,
in decline during the rest of this decade, according
to our projections. The price points are high, when
compared to x86 systems, while the value
proposition gap between Unix and x86 systems will
continue to diminish.

considerations as type of application, size of workload, number of users, type of transaction, SLA response times, targeted utilization, level and estimation accuracy of
workload baseline/peak/growth, physical or managerial constraints, need to maintain a single state at all times to ensure all users see the same results at any given time,

Note: Intel processor numbers are not a measure of performance. Processor numbers differentiate features within each processor family, not across different
processor families. Over time processor numbers will increment based on changes in clock speed, cache, FSB, or other features, and increments are not intended
to represent proportional or quantitative increases in any particular feature. Current roadmap processor number progression is not necessarily representative of
future roadmaps. See WWw.intel.com/products/processor_number for details.

Description
64-bit computing/Intel 64
Enables server/workstation platform to go into reduced power state during periods of low use
PCI Express
Serial I/O technology provides a direct connection between the processor/IOH and PCI Express*
component/adapters with bandwidth up to 4 GB/s on each PCI Express x8 interface.
Serial I/O technology provides a direct connection between the processor/IOH and PCI Express*
component/adapters with bandwidth up to 8 GB/s on each PCI Express gen 2 x8 interface. PCI Express
offers higher bandwidth, lower latency and fewer I/O bottlenecks than parallel I/O technologies like PCI
and PCI-X
DDR2 Memory
Enables faster memory and increased memory bandwidth at lower power compared to DDR
Quad-Core/Dual-Core
Builds on the performance of I/OAT by reducing the latency of network traffic for latency
sensitive applications
Platform level I/O acceleration based on improvements in the Processor, MCH and LAN (ESB2 or NIC)
Platform level I/O acceleration based on improvements in the Processor & MCH
Second generation memory technology that uses DDR2 DRAMS in a serial point-to-point interconnect
Dynamically scales processor frequency higher when applications demand more performance and TDP
headroom exists.

STREAM memory bandwidth increase primarily due to protocol change that enables pre-existing memory bandwidth to be FULLY measured by the STREAM workload conventions (STREAM
does not fully measure the memory BW of Xeon 7500). Actual WSM-EX bandwidth is nominally higher than Xeon 7500.
Low power memory buffer part is currently classified as a specialty part, and is not shown on the mainstream MMBP product roadmap.
