1. Introduction
Launched in April 2012, COBIT 5 is a business framework for the governance and management
of enterprise IT. From June 2013, ISACA Athens Chapter offers a COBIT 5 Foundation Course
through the official ISACA Chapter Accredited Training Organization (ATO) Program. ISACA
Athens Chapter is the first ISACA Chapter worldwide that delivered such courses through its
COBIT 5 Accredited Trainers.
For those of you are not yet members of ISACA, please note that it is necessary to become
members before the course begins through http://www.isaca.org/Membership/StudentMembership/Pages/default.aspx.
COBIT 5 is the latest governance standard available from ISACA and is a joint effort of
hundreds of volunteers that have contributed to its development. It provides globally accepted
principles, practices, analytical tools and models to help increase the trust in, and value from,
information systems.
ISACA has more than 115.000 members in over 200 chapters established in 180 countries
worldwide, and those chapters provide members education, resource sharing and a host of
other benefits on a local level. ISACA is a recognized global leader in IT Governance, IT Audit,
IT Risk and Information Security. ISACA develops globally applicable standards like COBIT 5
and administers internationally respected certification designations like CISA.

2. Scope
This course will help you assess the current state of your Enterprise IT with the objective of
scoping which aspects of COBIT 5 would be appropriate to implement. It also focuses on the
official learning areas of the COBIT 5 curriculum and offers a series of sample exam questions
that provide s the participants with a feel of the format and type of the questions encountered
in the COBIT 5 Foundation Examination.
This course is the ideal way to prepare for the examination. However, the examination is
optional but is a prerequisite for those of you that wish to pursue COBIT 5 Implementation
and Assessor Certifications following the paths detailed in the diagram below:

3. Who should attend?


Anyone involved in the governance and management of IT. COBIT 5 is a comprehensive
framework that assists the enterprises to achieve their goals and deliver value through effective
governance and management of enterprise IT. It is a very valuable source for professionals that
are responsible for (a) increasing benefit realization through effective and innovative use of
enterprise IT, (b) maintaining IT-Related risk at an acceptable level and (c) compliance with the
ever increasing relevant laws and regulations.

5. What will you learn?


This training course is based on the official COBIT 5 syllabus released by ISACA. At the
conclusion of this course, attendees will understand:

The COBIT Framework and all its components

The business benefits of using COBIT 5

The Process Reference Model (PRM)

The Process Assessment Model (PAM)

How to apply COBIT in a practical situation


The syllabus learning areas and the time allocations are as follows:
Principles (PR) - 3 hours, 30% of exam questions
Introduces the 5 key principles, the 7 enablers and the Process Reference Model. Also gives
guidance on how Enterprise Goals cascade to IT-Related Goals and how IT-Related Goals
cascade to Enabler Goals.

Enablers (EN) - 6 hours, 42% of exam questions


Covers the key facts and terms relating to COBIT 5 Enablers. Understand how COBIT 5
enables IT to be governed and managed in a holistic manner for the entire enterprise.
Introduction to Implementation (IM) - 2 hours, 12% of exam questions
Introduce the key facts and terms and concepts relating to the implementation of COBIT 5 and
specifically: (a) the life cycle model, (b) the management of the implementation and (c) the core
continual improvement life cycle.
Process Capability Assessment (PC) - 3 hours, 16% of exam questions
Covers the concepts of process assessments and the COBIT Assessment program. Introduces
the Process Assessment Model (PAM) and the Measurement Framework and details the
differences between a capability and a maturity assessment.

6. Frequently Asked Questions

Is this course open to non-members of ISACA?


No, all participants need to be ISACA members. Non-members will not be accepted in
the course.

When is the COBIT 5 Foundation Exam?


It will be on Saturday, February 14th, after the end of the course.

When should I register?


Before Friday, February 6th

Is there a combined registration process for the COBIT 5 Foundation Course and Exam?
No, there are two separate registration forms because exams are online and are
administered by a different party, our training provider APMG International:

The registration form for the COBIT 5 Exam is required by the programs education partner
APMG International, and can be found in Appendix A of this document. This form must be filledin and submitted to cobit@isaca.gr in order to receive a confirmation receipt for the examination.
Both forms are going to be used ONLY for organizing and delivering this COBIT 5
Course and Examination and will be treated as confidential.

Should I bring anything with me?


Attention: you must bring your own equipment (laptop, tablet) for the exams in
case you have selected to sit in for the exam and have accordingly filled-in the
application for registration form.

What is the cost, when and how is payment effected?


The cost for the exam is fixed and non-negotiable. Payment is expected before the
course commencement and is prerequisite for someone to attend the course.

8. Registration Process
Step 1:

Those of you that are not yet members of ISACA, please note that you need to
become members before the course begins following the link:

Step 2:

Membership dues are US$ 25 payable to ISACA International. Student


membership offers you access to all relevant COBIT publications, plus access to
the ISACA Career Center which offers plenty of job opportunities in Greece and
abroad.
If you are not planning to take the exam and just want to attend the course,
there is no attendance fee.

Step 3:

ISACA Athens Chapter will send a registration confirmation e-mail to those who
will eventually attend this course. Priority will be given to those who are willing to
participate in the exam also. The maximum number of attendees is limited to
30 per class, in order to make the course interactive and offer you the opportunity
to participate in case studies and class exercises.

Step 4:

You will receive a course registration confirmation receipt form by ISACA Athens
Chapter.

Cancellations must be e-mailed to cobit@isaca.gr. Participants who wish to


cancel will be permitted to attend the next available event. A replacement is
always welcome!

CRITERIA FOR CERTIFICATION
DATA PROTECTION STATEMENT
APMG comply with all relevant and current DPA laws within all countries of operation.
Under the rules of our accreditation by UKAS, APMG are obliged to hold a list of the candidate number,
date of exam and candidate name for all successful candidates. If you pass the examination, this
information will be added to our website. Other than this stated use, all personal data provided by you
and details of your examination score will be held in confidence by APMG and will only be used to
develop and improve its accredited training and examination processes. In no circumstances will APMG
either sell or pass on contact details to a third party. The name and candidate number of successful
candidates will be posted on the APMG website at www.apmg-international.com approximately 2-3 weeks
after their release to training organisations and candidates. APMG will not be held liable should the
website be incomplete. Please contact APMG should you think any records are incomplete.
Release by a training organisation of examination results to a candidates employer is a matter for
agreement between the candidate and the training organisation concerned.
If you ticked the Data Protection box on the candidate form, APMG will only divulge exam results to the
ATO who ran the associated training and will not enter your results on the website. Leaving the box
unchecked gives APMG permission to enter the candidate on the public website, and to inform any third
party of whether the candidate has passed the exam. If your preference changes at a later date, written
confirmation must be received by APMG with a copy of your certificate giving APMG permission to
change your preference. Please note there will be an administration charge for any such changes.
The ATO will be allowed access to the information submitted in order to be able to contact the candidate
in relation to their examination.
APMG will invite all successful candidates in the practitioner examination to complete a questionnaire on
the web after their result has been released to help us improve our service.
TERMS OF CERTIFICATION
The APM Group Ltd will award Certification as a Registered Practitioner to candidates who:

Have successfully achieved all pre-requisite requirements


Agreed to abide by the code of ethics prescribed for candidates
Agreed to surveillance monitoring and re-certification requirements
Are aware of the procedures for special allowances, complaint and appeals.
Are aware of the policies on data protection and retention of candidate information
Are aware that certification does not allow the use of any Mark or Logo associated with the
certification scheme and/or associated products

APPEALS
APMG operates a formal appeals process should a candidate believe that their results are not correct.
Appeals must be made in writing and the candidate must ensure that they have sufficient grounds to
make an appeal. The decision of the Examination Appeals Panel will be final. All appeals must be
submitted in writing (with the support of the ATO if applicable) within 12 months of the date of the
examination.

Extenuating circumstances during the examination, e.g. unacceptable noise outside the examination
room can, if supported by the invigilator concerned, be cited as grounds for appeal against an adverse
examination result. If you wish other extenuating circumstances, such as sickness, to be taken into
account these should be made known to the invigilator at the start of the examination. Appeals will not be
considered if extenuating circumstances such as noise and sickness are not reported to the invigilator at
the time of the examination.
If the examinations are taken through an ATO
Appeals will be processed via your ATO who should be contacted for further information. An appeal
against an examination result will only be considered if supported by the ATO who provided training in
advance of the examination.
If the examinations are taken at an open center
Appeals will be processed via APMG who should be contacted for further information. In the absence of
extenuating circumstances listed in the section above, an appeal against an examination result will only
be considered if supported by The APM Group Ltd.

Retention of information
APMG will retain completed candidate details forms for a period of 12 months after the date of the
examination, after this date the information will be securely destroyed and in the event of a dispute the
information held on the APMG records will be accepted as correct. Electronic copies of candidate
information will be held for the lifetime of the qualification scheme in order to provide verification of results
upon request, in accordance with the data protection statement outlined above. Examination answer
scripts will be securely destroyed 12 months after the date of the examination.
