Fact: CFC causes the depletion of ozone layer


Concept:Ozone is a triatomic molecule of oxygen and is a protective layer of earth.
It prevents harmful radiations coming from sun to our earth. CFC causes depletion
of ozone layer.

Learning outcomes
Enables pupil to develop
1. Factual knowledge on the depletion of ozone layer by,
a) Recalling the concept of the formation of ozone.
b) Recognizes that ozone hole due to the CFC.
2. Conceptual knowledge on the depletion of ozone layer by,
a) Arranging a drama.
b) Showing a video,and a paper cutting.
3. Procedural knowledge on the conservation of ozone layer by
a) Doing and observing activities based on it.

b) Raising question.
4. Metacognitive knowledge on depletion of ozone by,
a) Focusing on the idea that why we are celebrating world ozone day.
5. Develops a positive attitude towards science.
Pre- Requisites
The pupil should have previous knowledge about pollutions

Class room interaction procedure

Teacher enters the classroom and greets the


students. And they greet her back. In order to
introduce the students into a new topic
teacher shows a newspaper cutting and ask
them why October 16 iscelebrated as world
ozone day. (Students didnt respond as they
topic is new to them).

Teacher then asks the students that now we


are going to have a detailed study on that.

Pupils response

Then she arranges the setup of a drama. She


made them to stand in a circle She places a
student at the centre and keeps a placard in
his hand saying sun. The students standing
around him keep the placard in their hands
saying ozone (students). Some students
having placards saying CFC comes and
pushes away the ozone. Sun (student) throws
some crape papers to the audience denoting
the heavy rays of the sun. The ones who face
the radiation are having severe diseases.

CONSOLIDATION
Ozone is formed by the fusion of 3 oxygen
atoms. Now you have seen there are some
elements that destroyed the ozone layer and
made trouble. Do you know what it is? And
how it is made? (Students didnt respond)
CFC is a compound that is the combination
of carbon florin and chlorine. This compound
is mainly found in perfumes, fridges and air
conditioners .this causes formation of holes in
the ozone layer and is called ozone depletion.
The rays from the sun kill the earth
