Wazed Ali sir:
1. Introduce yourself.
[Mistake ab ovo! I tried to answer this question differently. I prepared the answer of this common
question from an ICS-IAS toppers interview right after the BCS written exam. Sir stopped me after a
while and said Do you know what the Introduction is? Its your name, your parents name and the
names of your educational institutions Thats it. I replied Sir, I havent completed yet. Sir just
went to the next questions. After all he already knew my Basics from the documents.
Guys, who are new to BD government job exams, just avoid any creativity and follow the norm in the
common matters]
[My viva started with JHARI. Anyway,
Next 2-10 no questions were asked like TV quizzes such as Quiz Bowl Sir was telling the place
names one after another - I was answering respectively. In this note I dont add these place names
as it would be de trop - I think sir asked the place names randomly So there are very few, if any
possibilities of repetition of the same place names in the future. Almost all of these place names can
be found in any general knowledge book/ Almanac.]
2. Around 25 cities or towns (mostly the capital cities of African states but also historic cities of
Europe and major commercial hubs of Asia, America and Australia) I had to tell the names of the
countries the cities belong to

3. 7 Major straits (around the world) - I had to tell the names of the adjacent countries and
oceans/seas, gulfs or bays).

4. 15 rivers (mostly from South Asia) - I had to tell the names of constituent states, provinces and
regions through which the rivers are flowing.

5. 5 deserts from Asia and USA I had to tell where these deserts are situated including the
geographical place such as south west of..

[I was able to answer the name of only one writer. Then Wazed sir asked me about the heroine that I
couldn't also answer. Sir told me It is not enough to know the names of writers of the books. One
should have the habit to read the books]
10. 5 Bengali books - asked me the name of writers
[Simply messed up Couldn't tell the name of a single writer. learned about these books during the
BCS preliminary and written exam but didn't heed on before the viva. There was a BIG gap during
the written and viva just couldn't recall. The impression on me was changed right away]
11. What is Diplomacy? Tell about the type and scope of Diplomacy.
[Answered]
12. What kinds of nature a Diplomat should possess?
[Answered]
13. Do you think you have these characteristics?
[Answered, Sir told me your communication skill is not good enough. How will you negotiate?"]

[Couldn't answer in fact never heard of the term before couldn't recall now either]

20. What is ICT? Tell something on ICT. Tell the numbers of the defendants.
[I started to answer it using some legal terminology which I learned during the preparation of BCS
written examination from the documents of ICT trial. Wazed Sir again stopped me and said why you
are using plaintiff or defendants just keep it simple Then sir himself answered that about 2
minutes and said I replied . External-1 seemed to be
satisfied with my answer but Wazed Sir was not at all]

24. Why did you study Engineering if you had so much interest in IR ?. Government invests a
handsome amount of money in the technical students. Dont you think the public money will be
wasted if you do not work in the technical sector? Why didnt you study Political Science or IR? Dont
you think graduates of these subjects will do far better than the graduates of any technical subjects?

[Not Answered I was just marvel at this question]
26. What are the main organs of UN? parba ?[Sir didnt accept and considered my answer wrong as I didnt tell the names of the UN organs in
official sequence. I told the EcoSoc in the 2nd, Security Council in the 3rd and Secretariat in the 4 rth
place]
27. What is Security Council? Total numbers of the member states.

28. What is the background of Six Point Program?
[Sir stopped me and told me Why are you using Proclaim! Demand? Was it written by military
dictators? Use Announce. ]

[answered But sir stopped me after a while]

[I memorized Six points and Article 25 in toto before the viva every FA aspirant should]
31. Do you think that you are eligible to work in the Foreign Service?
[answered]
At the eleventh hour of my viva voce exam Wzed sir told me I dont like your attitude. Your selection of English word is not good be simple. Moreover, your
English speaking is not as per the requirement of Foreign Service. May be you will improve lacking
skills during the service training but you should have proved yourself now in this viva board that
you are fully eligible to work in the foreign service dont you agree? I think you couldn't prove
yourself. Ok you may go now.
[I replied - Thank you, sir]
------------------------------------------------XXX-----------------------------------------This is the last experience of my first BCS venture. I prepared for the Foreign Service from the
beginning appeared the BCS written exam in the English version and started to learn Mandarin as
third language. Good English speaking ability is the sine qua none to appear viva voce exam in this
board irrespective of cadre option Foreign Service or Co-Operative as in the sentence of the
chairman of this board - BCS officer must be fluent in English. Neither I was asked anything on the
great liberation war, current world events (studied most in the last two months), nor from my job/
profession and academic background (engineering)!
Viva environment was not friendly at all (DOURER UPOR CHILAM) but it was the part of overall
judgment I must agree. Wazed sir tries to debunk the candidate to see the originality.
Hope fellow candidates will get some helps from my viva experience I have tried to share the
complete picture, not just questions. Good luck everyone.
However it is needless to anticipate as my written and viva marks which are yet to be published are
in fact already distributed. Please pray for me. Lets see what Allah wants.
