Sr. Youth: Contestants must have reached their 14th birthday and not have passed their 19th
birthday on January 1 of the current year. These contestants will judge 2 halter classes and a
performance class. Senior Youth contestants will give 1 set of oral reasons which will be on either the
halter or performance class.
Sr. Beginner: Contestants must have reached their 14th birthday and not have passed their 19th
birthday on January 1 of the current year. Senior Beginners will judge 1 halter class, 1 performance
class and complete equipment identification. Contestants will not be required to give oral reasons;
however will be required to answer 5 questions orally on either the halter and/or the performance class.
Jr. Youth: Contestants must have reached their 8th birthday and not have passed their 14th birthday
on January 1 of the current year. These contestants will judge 2 halter classes and a performance class.
Junior Youth contestants will give 1 set of oral reasons which may be on either the halter or
performance class.
Jr. Beginner: Contestants must have reached their 8th birthday and not have passed their 14th
birthday on January 1 of the current year. Junior Beginners will judge 1 halter class, 1 performance
class and complete equipment identification. Contestants will not be required to give oral reasons;
however will be required to answer 5 questions orally on either the halter and/or the performance class.
* Individuals are welcomed and encouraged to compete in any division if there are not enough contestants to
make up a full team.
CONTEST:
1. One halter class will be judged. The halter class will be judged as sound of limb, eye, wind and mouth.
2. One performance class will be judged. The performance class will be chosen from Western Pleasure,
Hunter Under Saddle, Hunter Hack, Western Riding, Reining, Pleasure Driving, Horsemanship, Hunt
Seat Equitation and Trail. Performance horses will be judged as seen (unsoundness to be penalized
accordingly). All tack and attire is considered legal.
3. An equipment identification section will be included in the contest. Equipment may include, but is not
limited to, tack, bits, grooming tools, farrier tools, veterinary equipment and other various horse
equipment.
4. There will be no talking during the contest; however, all participants will be permitted to use judging
materials.
