Mission:

The QHSE Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Company Quality, Health, Safety and
Environment (QHSE) Management System. The QHSE Manager provides guidance to the organization and supports
the QA process from pre-qualification and tender requests to project and operational QHSE plans. In his role he/she
supports the project management teams, engineering departments and Company sales department. The QHSE
Manager actively promotes an HSE culture.
Responsibilities:

Develops and implements QHSE managements systems, processes, and procedures that improve business
operations in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.

Communicates information on the QHSE Management System throughout the organization and promotes HSE
awareness.

Supports the organization on QHSE matters as the primary point of contact.

Provides quality management, HSE, and project management training to employees.

Participates in tender and project teams as the QHSE Expert.

Reviews and assesses requests for pre-qualification or tender, and compiles required documentation in
preparation for project deliverables.

Participates in project teams as the QHSE expert.

Prepares and maintains required HSE records and reports.

Develops and facilitates project HSE risk assessments (e.g. HAZID, ENVID, safety cases).

Coordinates and executes HSE inspections, and internal, sub-contractor, and third party audits.

Conducts investigations and analyses of, and reports findings to management on:
1.
Non-conformity reports and root cause analysis
2.
Client Satisfaction Program data
3.
Incidents, near misses, and damages
4.
Customer complaints
5.
Key performance indicators (KPI)

Develops and monitors HSE performance, progress, preventive and corrective action plans.
Functions as manager (lead function) for other employees in USA dedicated to QHSE.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor Degree or higher in QHSE, Science or Engineering

3 years minimum relevant working experience in quality, safety, environmental engineering, HSE management
systems, project management in a highly regulated industry

3 years in the oil & gas, offshore, marine/shipping industry

Audit training (IRCA/IATCA approved)

Safety training qualification e.g. NEBOSH


Function specific competences/skills:

Fluent in English; Dutch, Spanish, or Mandarin is a plus

Managerial skills

Proficient with computer, incl. SharePoint

Good report writing skills.


NOTE:

3 to 5 years is ideal. Someone who is looking to progress in their career, full of energy and fresh ideas, and
with strong office based safety management skills under their belt.

Atlantis is about to embark upon the manufacture of their first 1.5MW tidal turbine, the AR1500. This is to
be their flagship product and is strategically important to the success of the organisation. Tidal turbines
work in a very unforgiving setting, they operate in an environment that makes maintenance operations
extremely costly. Their success is dependent upon every minor detail being correct. Therefore the
Quality Systems employed by the engineering team are vital to the success of the business.
Atlantis is seeking a senior Quality, Health Safety and Environment Manager with manufacturing
experience to be based out of its recently established Edinburgh offices and, in the first instance, work
within the Atlantis engineering team to develop and deliver the quality systems required to ensure the
success of the AR1500.
Main Responsibilities
Reviewing and revising the Atlantis quality systems for the delivery of the AR1500 in line with ISO9001
standards.

Reviewing and revising the Atlantis health and safety systems for the delivery of the AR1500 in
line with CDM.
Managing the execution of the quality control plan for the AR1500 which will include supporting
contract managers in the implementation and audit of their quality control plans.
Be the senior interface and contract manager with our third party quality assurance support
vendors such as Lockheed Martin and DNV-GL
Review supplier quality documentation, identify audit requirements and oversee all supplier
audits.
Design and lead a campaign to educate staff on Supply of Machinery Regulations.
Develop and implement a process to ensure compliance with Supply of Machinery Regulations.
Review and enforce measures to ensure that the Atlantis team have the required competencies.
Review and enforce measures to ensure that our suppliers have the required competencies.
Monitoring best-practice and developing leading-edge QHSE initiatives as appropriate to the
project.
Manage incident reporting systems.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Science, Engineering, Building or equivalent qualification.


Either Membership / Chartered status or qualification in Quality Management Systems preferred.
Significant manufacturing background required.
HSE or Management of CDM qualification required.
Evidence of knowledge of Supply of Machinery Regulations required.
Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification to Green Belt of higher standard preferred.
Good quality audit skills and experience (ISO9001 qualification preferred).
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
Full and Current EU Drivers Licence
Medically and physically fit to offshore standards
