EFFECT OF SUPER BRAIN YOGA IN COGNITIVE PROCESSING
Abstract
The main objective of the study is to identify the effect of Super Brain Yoga in Cognitive
Processing, In this activity, it involves the Tip of the Tongue Phenomenon which will give the researchers
the data they needed if the practice of Super Brain Yoga really improves the Cognitive Processing.

1.0 Introduction
Are you familiar with yoga, its types and benefits? If the answer is yes, then it's time you move
on to the next level of yoga and learn about these new things and try practicing them. All it takes is a little
time from your busy schedule, a quiet place to sit and yoga mat.
There are various types of yoga. There are few others which are still unknown. This includes
Super brain yoga. Super Brain Yoga is a simple, fast and effective technique used to fuel and sustain the
healthy brain.
As the name suggests Super Brain Yoga deals with the effective and fast functioning of the brain.
Super Brain Yoga is often termed as the new way of yoga that improves the brain. There are a few
exercises poses which are included in Super Brain Yoga.
According to Dr. Paul Nogier, MD, a neurologist, spent 20 years from 1950 to about 1970 doing
medical research. He rediscovered that the ears correspond to the whole body. The ear corresponds to an
inverted fetus curled in the womb. The ear lobe corresponds to the head The correspondence of the ear to
the whole body was already recognized by the ancient Chinese acupuncturists and also to the great rishis
(teachers) in India, who developed a technique to increase peoples intelligence. Now we know it worked
because it was based on the principle of ear acupuncture.

Objectives
The research aims to predict if doing the Super Brain Yoga has an significant effect in cognitive
process, academic and behavioral performance of selected students. The experiment focuses on the
reaction time as well as performance of each group with the given sentence and time.

2.0.1

Cognitive Processing
Active Processing enabled you to receive input; you had to read or hear, attend to,

process, and remember the request. But this time the answer wasn't automatic, instead, you made the
internal, executive Decision that something about this request was New or unfamiliar. You needed to
think about it using one or more of your Higher Thinking skills. You had to come up with a plan of action
(using Logic and Reasoning). Your plan may have been to create a mental image (using Visual
Processing) of the word you're looking for. This may have required you to repeat the name or thing a few
times to hear the separate sounds (using Auditory Processing) and then retrieve the letter codes (using
Long-Term Memory) that represent those individual sounds before creating the word image and calling
out the letters (as Output). Using all these skills, you laid down an imprint in your Knowledge Bank. This
imprint would not only help you remember the word you're looking for, but it would help perform similar
tasks faster and easier as well.

Super Brain Yoga

Super Brain Yoga is effective and fast functioning of the brain. Super Brain Yoga is often

termed as the new way of yoga that improves the brain. According to Dr. Paul Nogier, MD, a neurologist,
spent 20 years from 1950 to 1970 doing medical research. He rediscovered that the ears correspond to the
whole body. The ear correspond to an inverted fetus curled in the womb. The ear lobe correspond to the
head the correspondence of the ear to the whole body was already recognized by the ancient Chinese
acupuncturists and also to the great Rishis or teachers in India, who developed a technique to increase
people's intelligence. Now we know it worked because it was based on the principle of ear acupuncture.
The right position to this yoga is you have to pinch your right ear lobe with your left hand, and left ear
lobe with your right hand, and do some squatting position as many as you can. This activates or awaken
your neurons which give us more brain activity.

Tip-of-the-Tongue
Tip of the tongue is a phenomenon which is now well-documented in Psychology. It is a

very common example of what Daniel L. Schacter called "blocking", one of the seven sins of memory
(Schacter, 1999). Sometimes all you can think about is something similar. It's this memory that seems to
block the retrieval of the one you really want. Other times there's apparently nothing blocking the
memory's retrieval other than your mind's stubborn refusal. Blocking increases with age. Older adults
certainly experience more problems recalling names than younger adults. How do we finally remember

what's on the tip of our tongues? One theory has it that our memory can be jogged by hearing a word that
sounds similar. (James & Burke, 2000).

2.1 Theoretical Framework

2.1.1 Cognitive Information Processing Theory.
Schunk (1996) offers some helpful summary or definition which Information Processing theories
focus on how people: Attend, Encode, Relate, Store, and Retrieve. Cognitive Information Processing
theory is often referred simply as a Information Processing. This is the process of thinking and the
cognitive operation of remembering. Information Processing is the generic name applied to various
theoretical perspectives. The theory uses the computer metaphor with its input and output. This theory
also focuses on what happens in between input and output.

2.1.2 Brain Gym Curriculum Theory

Developed by Dr. Paul Dennison, is that when repeated movements stimulate the brain,
it functions at a higher level and/or balances. The 26 movements taught at Brain Gym seminars are all
based on movements humans make as infants and children. By repeating these movements, people with
learning difficulties have been said to find learning comes easier.
The simplest description of this technique is that through the 26 movements or activities, the brain creates
new neural pathways, which allow the brain to perform tasks that were once difficult.

2.1.3 Tip Of The Tongue

In new research, published in the November issue of the Journal of Experimental Psychology:
Learning, Memory and Cognition, published by the American Psychological Association, researchers Lori
E. James, Ph.D., and Deborah M. Burke, Ph.D., report new evidence that tip of the tongue experiences
have to do with weak connections among word sounds represented in memory that frustrating experience
when the word you are looking for is right on the tip of your tongue but you just can't seem to get it out.
Tip of the tongue has been studied by scientists for decades.

The title is "The Effect of Super Brain Yoga in Cognitive Processing of Selected University
Students". The Researcher's Independent Variable in this title is the Super Brain Yoga since it manipulates
the data that the group can and will have to gather. The Dependent Variable is the Cognitive Processing
since it is the variable that the Researchers are measuring. They are trying to measure the time of
Cognitive Processing and the accuracy of their given data.

There is no significant difference in the Cognitive Processing between the Control Group

and Experimental Group.

3.0. Research Method

The discussion of the research methods includes the Research Design, Research Locale,
Population and Sampling, the Research Ethics, the Research Instrument and the Data Gathering
procedures used in the research that will bring the conclusion about "The Effect of Super Brain Yoga in
Cognitive Processing of Selected University Student at the age of 17 to 25 years old"

3.1 Research Design

The research design in this experiment is Between - Subject design, wherein there are 40
participants, presented with set of sentences. The group will be divided, the 20 participants will perform
the Super Brain Yoga, while the remaining will not. The researchers will give both group 10 different
sentences with 10 difficult words, each participant will give a synonym based on the difficult word that
has been given. The researcher will tally the time that the participant was able to give the synonym.

3.2 Research Locale

Participants will be divided by group in a room, The other group having a number of 20 will be
performing the Super Brain Yoga before doing the task, while the other 20 does not.

3.3 Population and Sampling

The researcher chose the participants based on their appropriateness for the study, wherein the
participants must be aged 17 to 25 years old, is currently enrolled in the University and have a healthy
body and mind. Students who have disorders, disability and under and over the given range of age has
been excluded in the experiment due to their condition.

3.4 Research Ethics

OUR LADY OF FATIMA UNIVERSITY

COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

7
EFFECT OF SUPER BRAIN YOGA IN COGNITIVE PROCESSING
The participants of the study were given careful consideration. The Researchers informed the
participants for their consent, indicated that the participants understood the voluntary nature of the study,
that information will be kept in strict confidentiality, and that they can withdraw at any time without
consequence. If the participants had questions about the study, the Researchers contact information was
provided. It was clearly indicated that records would remain confidential, would be kept, and that only the
Researchers would have an access to them.

3.5 Research Instruments

3.5.1 Basic Information Sheet
A basic information sheet was prepared to obtain the basic demographic profile of the
respondents. It contains the basic information about the respondent, such as its name, address, age and
gender. It also contains the name of the school, and guardians name. More importantly, it asks if the
participants performed Super Brain Yoga or not.

3.6 Data Collection

The participants came from a first year class taking English 1. There are 40 randomly selected
students and they will be two groups consisting of 20 students each. The Research design will be
Between-Subject design. The other group will perform a Super Brain Yoga, while the other will not. The
day of the experiment, the researchers will conduct an exercise that includes the "Tip-of-the-tongue", each
group will have a representative who will answer the given questions regarding to the tip-of-the-tongue.
The Researcher will tally the Reaction time and the Accuracy of the answers of the representative. These
are the data that the researchers were looking for, which is the Cognitive Process of those who conducted
the Super Brain Yoga than those who didn't.

3.7 Data Analysis

The statistical treatment the researcher used is the T-test. The researcher wanted to know if there
is a difference between those who did the Super Brain Yoga and those who didn't. They evaluated the data
they have gathered by using T-test. The researcher used the T-test which is the statistical treatment to
know whether there is a difference between two sets of data.

Based on the researcher's gathered data, those who have performed the Super brain yoga showed
that they have finished the examination quickly than those who did not performed, and they have a higher
scores than those who did not performed super brain yoga. The lesser the total value in the Time variable
means that the quicker they have finished. The higher the value in the total score value, the higher they
aced the test. The tobt is 0.23 > 1 in time and 0.07 > 1 in score. This tells the researcher that there is quite a
difference between those who did the super brain yoga. This also tells the researcher that by doing super
brain yoga occasionally affects the academic performance. The T-critical for this research is 1.729, which
is > 1, since it is greater than 1, the research simply accepts the hypothesis of the researcher.

5.0 Discussion
It is stated by Dr. Paul Nogier Md., a neurologist, who have spent 20 years of his life from 1950
to 1970 by doing medical research. He rediscovered that the ears correspond to the whole body. The ear
corresponds to an inverted fetus curled in the womb. The ear lobe corresponds to the head, the
correspondence of the ear to the whole body was already recognized by the ancient Chinese acupuncturist
and also to the great Rishis (which is teacher in India), who developed a technique to increase people's
intelligence. Now, based on the data that the researchers have gathered in performing the Super Brain
Yoga, the researchers proven that it works. because it was based on the principle of ear acupuncture.
Based also in the result of the researcher, they concluded that there is an effect between cognitive process
and Super Brain Yoga, which enlightens us that by doing such exercise as a daily routine, it can really
improve our cognitive process or our daily productivity by an inch of difference. Even though it is only an
OUR LADY OF FATIMA UNIVERSITY

COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

EFFECT OF SUPER BRAIN YOGA IN COGNITIVE PROCESSING
inch of difference, there is still a change in the value. The way that researchers conducted their study is
they carefully selected a group of 40 university student, they divided it into two groups, half of the
students are ordered to perform the Super Brain Yoga, which made them their experimental group, while
those who did not perform are the control group. The researcher also prepared a simple test of Tip-of-thetongue phenomenon. The researchers constructed 10 sentences with each 1 difficult word to be defined,
and the participants were asked to not define the word but give a synonym of the word. After the
researchers conducted, the half of the group performed the Super Brain Yoga, the researchers gave the
simple test of the Tip-of-the-Tongue phenomenon, giving us the results for the speed and accuracy of the
participants. The result above tells us what the researcher wanted to get from their study. Those who
performed Super brain yoga have done tremendous job and gave the researcher the data which tells us
that there is such thing as an effect when super brain yoga is performed daily. 7-14 super brain yoga in the
morning is sufficient enough to trigger our neurons and make them active for us to perform and be
productive to our daily lives.

Conclusion
Most of the participants became very agitated. But they continued to follow orders even though
they were clearly uncomfortable to the researchers, From this study the researchers conclude that there is
a significant improvement in academic performances of the selected university students who performed
the super brain yoga, The super brain yoga designed to provide the selected university students with the
tool for success when preparing for test and setting academic goals for success. The researcher's study
was a success, because the research supported their hypothesis.

Recommendation
The researchers recommend that the readers perform the Super Brain Yoga 7 to 14 times every
morning to improve their productivity. And recommends the future researchers to explore more about
super brain yoga and its effects in cognitive process.
