1. Security Lock - Installation

During Installation do not select Security Lock.

During installation please use the default Demo Mode.

After installation please use default Demo Mode

Thanks to the above settings DigiVis will not start automatically.

Automatic startup of DigiVis requires advanced User/Password security settings,

which is not recommended for Quickstart users.

Virus Scanner Settings

Some virus scanners may cause problems when using the Freelance software. To
prevent this, the C:\Program Files\ABB Industrial IT\Freelance directory should be
excluded from scanning.
Here is one example of how to exclude from scanning for McAfee virus scanner:

Password required for DigiVis

I have installed Freelance to my PC. Now, when I boot up my PC, it comes up with
Freelance and requires a password. What shall I do?
There are more solutions:

Just overwrite the Freelancer user name with your old user name and your
password.
If you haven't had a user name before, type in Administrator as user name and
leave the password empty (or administrator as user name and empty password)

Recommendation, just deactivate DigiVis Autostart:

Demo Mode expired

The demo mode of my Freelance software has expired. How can I extend the
validity of my demo license?
If you need the demo license for some more time, just uninstall Freelance and then
install Freelance again and it will run for 100 more days.
For commercial use you are requested to obtain the necessary licenses from ABB.
You will then receive the manuals as well as a hardkey along with the
corresponding authorization file.

6. Installation of Security Lock - asking for password

I have installed the option Security Lock by accident now I am asked for a
password. What shall I do?
In this case you need to uninstall Freelance and then re-install without the Security
Lock option.
How to install without Security Lock is described in Section 1 - Security Lock Installation
7. DigiVis is a full screen application on top of any other program. In Demo Applications
this is pretty nasty, while presenting. How can this be switched off?
If Control Builder F and DigiVis are used as Combi Station on one PC, messages
or other programs are hard to access.
There is a possibility to switch off this feature using the registry.

8. I have a screen resolution less than 1280 x 1024. DigiVis is displayed in classic mode.
How can I switch to the new mode?
If you have a screen resolution of less than 1280x1024, DigiVis will
automatically switch to the old Layout. Sometimes your video projector
would not support high resolution, but you want to show the nice new
Graphics.
There is a possibility to switch off this feature using the registry.

12. How can I updgrade from a project created with a previous Freelance version?
If you would like to upgrade your project, which is created with version 9.1, for
example, you have to export the project with version 9.1 as .CSV file. This file can
then be imported into the new version.
The project files with the file extension .PRO must match the Freelance version.
For example, project files created with version 9.1 cannot be read by newer
version. But you can always use the .csv file.

13. In Control Builder I get the error message CFdmFDT Container get Device failed
what shall I do?
In this case you have to re-install Freelance, this time with the options DTM for
S800 and DTM for S900.
You can access the dialog box displayed below, when you select the Custom
installation option.
But normally, these two options are automatically installed and the error message
should not occur.

14. How to start the Emulator

Open the Internet Explorer and enter the Emulators address
(http://127.0.0.1:8888) in the address bar Set the Station ID to 1 and then click
Start Controller to run the controller emulator. If you use proxy or web browser
limitation software you might not be able to open this page.

Tip: save this page as Favorites.

15. Emulator Service running message during installation

If you have an existing Freelance installation and want to install the OPC Server,
the Freelance Controller Emulator Service must be stopped first.
Press OK like advised in the box:

To terminate the Emulator Service manually proceed as follows: Click Start

Control Panel Administrative Tools Services:

Select the Freelance Controller Emulator Service, click the right mouse button
and click stop to stop the service.

17. I have a problem with the configuration of a function block in the tutorial. Where can I
find some help?
On the DVD in the folder Quickstart\Projects\EN\Export you find all function
blocks, which do not belong to the sequential function chart. You find complete
solutions in the folder Quickstart\Projects\EN\PRO.
