HELP!
What do we need to make the Fall
Festival happen? LOTS and LOTS of
Candy! There will be a collection bin
at the church starting NOW!
Please pick some up and drop it
off at the church.
The Fall Festival continues to be
CEFCMs largest single night
outreach to kids. Last year we saw
over 100+ kids come and play
games, collect candy, and have a
great time in a fun safe environment.
This year we will be using some
great resources from SpreadTruth
Ministries to share The Gospel at
the Fall Festival!

NURSERY REMODEL
at Community Free
Church of Mahomet
What is the full scope of the project?

As many of you have already seen via

Facebook, email, and at church on Sunday the
nursery construction is progressing along. If you
havent had a chance to see it stop in because
its exciting!
Dont forget to continue to pray for the ways that
the space will bring Glory to God as they grow in
grace. With over 98 kids in AWANA and new
families in the church with children I believe that
God is giving us a taste, just a taste, of what is
to come!
I want to thank every one of you who came and
and shared in painting, pulling up carpet, laying
concrete and loving one another in service.
Thank you to ever one of you that pray, and
continue to pray for the ways Jesus will be found
in the hearts of kids through this revitalized and
re-engaged ministry.

- We will be adding glass doors between the

foyer and the worship center. The reason is
two-fold. First it will make a huge visual impact,
but more importantly it is for safety as the solid
metal doors have caused quite a few accidents.
- We will be re-carpeting the worship center this
week. This will make a major difference as our
carpeting is 20 years old and starting to show
heavy wear.
- The nursery area is becoming a bright,
transparent, safe environment for kids to learn
about Jesus. Some additions are:
- Appealing and visible foyer area to safe
dedicated kid check-in.
- Lots of windows and bright colors!
- New door to an outside play yard.
- Cry room with windows to allow parents to
stay in service with a crying infant.
- New heavy padded carpeting.
- Flatscreen TV mounted in the room.
- New hallway upstairs to adult classrooms.

Look for great ways that you can share what God is doing at CEFCM with others!

heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.

6And he burned his son as an offering and used
fortune-telling and omens and dealt with mediums
and with necromancers in the house of the Lord.

From the message An Idol, A Servant, and a New Song 10/11/2015

If idols are only images and trinkets, statues and

lucky charms, and figures promising good fortune
then Isaiahs message to us is antiquated and of little
or no interest. But the Bible knows better.
See idols dont have to be actual images for us to
take them into our hearts. Because it isnt the idol
that is the problem - it is the heart.
The same heart that struggles with the sovereignty
of God, struggles to understand and embrace how
we can be so infinitely and eternally loved, is the
same heart that seeks to give power and hope to
smaller and lesser things. John Calvin famously
said: the human heart is an idol factory, and that
claim has as much weight today as it did in Calvins
day. Martin Luther said: Your God is that to which
your heart clings and entrusts itself to, yes I say
THAT is REALLY your God.

Its very easy to read this and think sheesh!, shake

our heads, and think those Israelites once again
they have lost the plot. But is it really that far
fetched an idea?
This past year a number of denominations have
confirmed openly practicing same sex attracted
individuals to major positions of leadership within
their denominations. Now please understand me,
God loves the same sex attracted, just as He loves
all those who have sinned and fallen
short (Romans 3:23). But that decision is wrong.
Because it attempts to sanctify within the church an
alien worldly ideal of self defined sin. It brings
something self-centered NOT God- centered into
the temple.
Likewise, the New Testament is absolutely vigilant
on the topic of idols.
1 Corinthians 10:14
(referring to Exodus 32: the infamous golden calf)
14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.

You see an idol, biblically speaking, is anything that

we take as a heart level substitute for God.

1 John 5:21
Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

If this is true then Idolatry is far more than just a

pagan problem, its a human problem, past, present
and future. The Old Testament continually calls the
covenant community of God to resist the allure of
idols and repent of them.

Galatians 4:8-9
Formerly, when you did not know God, you were
enslaved to those that by nature are not gods.
9But now that you have come to know God, or
rather to be known by God, how can you turn back
again to the weak and worthless elementary
principles of the world, whose slaves you want to
be once more?

Ezekiel 14:2-3, 5-6

2And the word of the Lord came to me: 3Son of
man, these men have taken their idols into their
hearts 5that I may lay hold of the hearts of the
house of Israel, who are all estranged from me
through their idols. 6Therefore say to the house
of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent and turn
away from your idols, and turn away your faces
from all your abominations.
Even the temple (supposed safe place) wasnt safe
from idolatry:
2 Kings 21:1-9 (of Hezekiahs son Manasseh)
And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of
which the Lord had said, In Jerusalem will I put
my name. 5And he built altars for all the host of

Elementary (small, simple) because its not how

big or small the idol is....it is the ONE who is sinned
against. Now, I dont say this to be legalistic or one
of those fundamentalists who are no fun, but I want
you to see God first and foremost. So that you dont:
turn back again to the weak and worthless
elementary principles of the world, whose slaves
you might become once more (Galatians 4:9)
Isnt it comforting that these words by Paul to the
Galatians are the very words God Himself speaks
through Ezekiel. They are timeless, true - and for
each of you. Amen.

The Elders of CEFCM have been very busy

behind the scenes meeting, praying, discussing,
and discerning Gods leading in the life of our
church. In addition we have been repenting and
looking at ways that we have not led well enough
and can lead and love people better.
On October 25th and November 1st, at 10:45am,
we will be taking a short break from the Prophet
Isaiah, and presenting two messages which will
clarify the vision and mission of our church going
forward.
The Elders want to encourage you to be there for
both services so that you can hear and see what
God has been birthing. We are praying that
together we will see God grow His vision in
greater and greater ways.

In Addition...
There will be an
Elders Meeting on October
14th at 8:00pm. If you need
prayer or an opportunity to
discuss an issue with the Eldership please feel
free to attend this meeting by emailing the Elders
at: communityfreechurchofmahomet@gmail.com
