The teacher asks the students to give the three forms of some irregular verbs Timing: 3 minutes ACTIVITY 1: Warm up Aims: -to introduce the topic: extreme sports Procedure: The teacher asks the students several questions: Have you ever heard about climbing mountains? Do you consider it an extreme sport? Timing: 5 minutes Interaction: teacher-students ACTIVITY 2: Reading a text Aim: Practice reading skills Procedure: the students read the text from their students book Climbing is our life. Then the teacher asks them about the unknown words and gives some that she considers more difficult; writes them on the blackboard giving them the explanation in Romanian (to climb, snow-covered, disabled, mountaineer, trainer, freezing cold, to drag somebody, the weather beats them, disappointed, definitely not, top. Aim: understanding the written text
-completing a chart -answer the questions Procedure: The students work in pairs or individually. They have to resolve exercise 14 page 18: complete a chart and answer some questions about the text that they have already read. Time: 5 minutes Interaction: S-S, T-S, pair work ACTIVITY 4: Listening Aim: practice listening skills -answer questions about the information on the tape (feedback). Procedure: the teacher uses the cassette recorder and the tape to listen to the new given information. After they have listened, the students have to answer some questions from the book for feedback. The teacher asks them to correct themselves and if necessary she corrects them. Time: 7 minutes Interaction: S-S, T-S ACTIVITY 5: Presentation Aim: -to show images with extreme sports -to teach new vocabulary related to the topic: water rafting, jet skiing, windsurfing, mountain biking, parachuting, bungee jumping etc. Procedure: The teacher shows the students a Power Point presentation about extreme sports and writes some of these extreme sports on the blackboard. The students are asked to speak about the sports they like and what they practice and if they consider sport a dangerous activity. Some of the students were prepare new information about some extreme sports. They read the new information in front of the classroom. Time: 12 minutes Interaction: S-S, T-S ACTIVITY 6: Feedback Aim: express preferences Procedure: The students are asked to speak about their favorite extreme sports and to name some of the most interesting presented sports. Time: 5 minutes Interaction: S-T ACTIVITY 7: Setting homework Aim: practice the new vocabulary and express their opinion. Procedure: The students are asked to write about their favorite sports. Interaction: T-S Time: 3 minutes
