innovative, solution-oriented professionals to

Performs investigative research and analytical
functions in support of the Bureau's law

Major Duties:

Provides vital investigative support


toward the overall investigative mission
by conducting trend analyses, statistical
studies and special projects.
Summarizes reports and extracts

essential information received from the


intelligence community and other law
enforcement agencies into single
cohesive reports.
Develops supplemental visuals such as
graphs, charts, etc., to be used in
preparing cases for trials.
Maintains and develops a wide range of
diverse contacts, sources, and fields
impromptu phone and face-to-face
contacts with the general public.
Conducts analytical research of firearms,
explosives, arson, alcohol, and tobacco
related data and generates informational
reports and trend analyses pertaining to
stolen firearms and explosives, firearms
trafficking, alcohol and tobacco diversion,
etc.,

Knowledge of database systems and the
interrelationships of Federal, State, and

order to effectively prepare narrative and
statistical reports and present findings.

Qualifications:

To Qualify for the GS-7 Grade level: Must


have one year (52 weeks) of specialized
experience equivalent to the (GS-5) grade
level. Specialized experience is experience in
or related to investigations of criminal
violations that provided the specific
knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully
perform the duties of the position. Experience
includes but not limited to providing
investigative or inspection support for a law
enforcement organization; assisting with trend
analyses and statistical studies for a law

enforcement organization, and summarizing


reports and extracting essential intelligence
information to brief superiors.
OR One full year of graduate
level education in social sciences, business
or public administration, behavioral sciences,
and sociology. Course work in fields other
than those specified may be accepted if it
clearly provides applicants with the
background of knowledge and skills
necessary for successful job performance in
the position to be filled. One year of full-time
graduate education is considered to be the
number of credit hours that the school
attended has determined to represent 1 year
of full- time study. If that information cannot
be determined from the school, 18 semester
hours should be considered as equivalent to 1
year of full-time study; OR Superior
Academic Achievement (SAA): A
Bachelor's degree in one of the above fields
of study with SAA. SAA may be met in one of
the following three ways: 1. Class StandingApplicants must be in the upper third of the
graduating class in the college, university, or
major subdivision, based on completed
courses. 2. Grade Point Average-Applicants
must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a
possible 4.0 based on 4 years of education,
or based on the last 2 years of the curriculum;
or a 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based
on the average of the required courses
completed in the major field, or the required
courses completed in the major during the
final 2 years of the curriculum. 3. Election to
Membership in a National Scholastic Honor
Society-Applicants can be considered eligible
for SAA based on membership in a national
scholastic honor society that meets the
minimum requirements of the Association of

OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or 2 years of progressively higher level
graduate education leading to such a degree

education and experience.

has obtained accreditation or preaccreditation status from an accrediting body
