BRAND IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY

PARAGON AWARD
Asheville JCC, Asheville, NC
Camp Ruach Rebranding
President: Eric Scheffer
Executive Director: Heather Goldstein
Chair: Fred Stichel
We developed the tagline "Find Your Friends Here," for our summer day camp
as a complimentary concept to "You Belong Here" that has become so familiar
in our marketing materials. We also developed a new logo, featuring two camp
"buddies" that appear on t-shirts, temporary tattoos, flyers, advertisements,
and brochures, and we created two life-sized cardboard figures that appeared
around camp throughout the summer.

Advecor New Member Recruitment Campaigns
President: Michael Rubin
Executive Director: Ira Jaffee
Chair: Rick Weiss
Our three recruitment campaigns concentrate on a 5-mile radius around the
JCC. Advecor’s analysis of our membership data and ability to match these
demographics to those of households in the area allowed us to deliver our
message directly to qualified households. Mailings were sent to 15,000 select
households. Our cards were designed to be bold, welcoming and fully branded.
Our photos reinforced our message: “we’re open to everyone” and “something
for everyone.” The 4-week promotional offers included free personal training
sessions and a discount on enrollment in a class or program. These offers were
intended to engage new members immediately upon joining and to "upsell" new
members by encouraging participation in other programs.

ENVIRONMENTAL SIGNAGE in the JCC and/or GROUNDS

ICON AWARDS
JCC of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA
Sefirat Ha-Omer environmental signage
Board Chair: Susan Diamond
Interim Executive Director: Judy Edelson
Chair: Laura Klapper
Facing the challenge of creating educational pieces for an audience with highly
varying levels of Jewish practice and knowledge, our Jewish Educator, Rabbi
Eve Ben-Ora, proposed that we create environmental signage for the Sefirat
Ha-Omer observances that could serve both as an ambient educational piece
and as a touchstone for a daily observance. She asked us to consider the
concept behind an Advent Calendar in Christian practice, which served both a
temporal purpose of counting the days of observance and a spiritual purpose of
creating a daily opportunity for reflection. We came up with a pair of six-foot
retractable banners for the Counting of the Omer with a blessing and numbered
lines for each day. Each was covered by another banner with educational
information about the observance, which could be moved down day by day to
reveal a new line. These Sefirat Ha-Omer banners were installed in our central
atrium on movable bases, so that they could both serve as ambient educational
pieces and be used in daily observances led by the Jewish educator.
