This letter is to confirm that I have received your letter, via email, dated October 15, 2015, requesting a reasonable accommodation to use the emergency gate when entering and exiting Metrorail Metro appreciates you bringing this potential safety matter to our attention. As a result of your request, the informative conversations you shared with me, and Metros follow-up investigation into the matter, I am pleased to inform you that Metro has established a safety accommodation standard operating procedure (SOP) to allow customers traveling with service animals to use the equipment gates to enter or exit the system upon request. Such customers shall not be required to use a faregate to enter or exit the system. This SOP is effective immediately. Thank you for being a loyal and informed Metro customer. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I can be reached at 202-962-1100 or by email at cblake@wmata.com. Sincerely,
Christiaan Blake Director Office of ADA Policy and Planning
