ThiscourseisasurveyofU.S.historyfromtheAgeofDiscoverythroughtheCivilWarandReconstruction.
SpecialemphasisisplacedontheemergenceoftheUnitedStatesasanation.Othertopicswillinclude
westwardexpansion,slavery,theCivilWar,andReconstruction.Itspurposeistoprovidestudentswithan
interpretiveanalysisofthesocial,economic,political,andintellectualdynamicsthathaveshapedUnited
Stateshistorybefore1877.

ComputerVirusProtection
Computervirusesare,unfortunately,afactoflife.Usingdiskettesonmorethanonecomputercreatesthe

infectingcomputersanddisketteswithacomputervirus.Thisexposesthecomputersofthecollege,yourpersonal
computer,andanyothersyoumaybeusingtopotentiallydamagingviruses.Thecollegehasaggressiveantivirus
proceduresinplacetoprotectitscomputers,butcannotguaranteethatavirusmightnottemporarilyinfectoneof
its
machines.Itisyourresponsibilitytoprotectallcomputersunderyourcontrolanduseandensurethateach
disketteyou
use,wheneverorwhereveryouuseit,hasbeenscannedwithantivirussoftware.Sincenewvirusesarise
