R
It is pretended to show the relationship between the judeo-christian way to assess the concept of
good and bad, and the moral sense found in fables and fairy tales; questioning the models of

conduct transmitted through some tales, which, according to this work, are highly permeated and
determined for a judeo-christian way to assess; for that purpose, we propose to analyze some
tails such as Cinderella, Pinocchio and the Walker Tadpole. Fairy tales and fables are currently
directed mainly for children. Indeed, Infancy is a modern concept , reminding that in Middle age,
children became into adults just for growing; there are addressed some concepts about Infancy
and the influence that children's literature has had over their education. It is shown how,
throughout fairy tales, it emerges an important moralization strategy for children nowadays, just
when the former begins to emerge as a preoccupation for society, and how the use of the moral of
a fable shapes children's behavior. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM

This paper examines critically some of the ideas related to children's

literature, in particular the one that considers that one of the main
functions of the children's books is to transmit values. The relationship
between literature and ethics are also discussed in order to show the
potential of literature, including the children's literature, to talk about life

and human beings in great depth. Against consideration of the children's

books as instruments to entertain or instruct, this paper argues the
importance of an ethical reading and the possibility of those books to
generate moral reasoning. Certain pedagogical practices that
underestimate the quality of children's literature and its power to promote
ethical responses and the construction of knowledge through dialogue
and listening are also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article brings up the question whether "educating for values" or the boom of "political
correctness" are conditioning too far the literary education we offer to our pupils. After analyzing
different materials used by the counsellors, we conclude that many of the texts are not only
exempt of quality but that they cannot even be considered as literature; they are, in the best case,
surrogates. Against this, we maintain that literature has a value in itself and that current literature
offers sufficient examples to illustrate any type of civic value. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT
