Reenactment of the Nepalese Tourism Industry

In order to establish an effective and sustainable reconstruction process, the Nepalese tourism
industry should primarily focus its attention towards three of the following Key areas:
1. Image Reconstruction
Presently, thanks to the media and social networks, the rate of transfer of information has
escalated to astounding levels. The Nepal Tourism industry should establish a formidable
partnership with the media so as to swiftly disseminate fact-based and comprehensive
information with regards to the affected areas. In the same way, this process will also promote
the unaffected areas. A formidable relationship between the tourism industry and the media will
enhance the process of normalizing the problematic situation by offering moral support to the
victims which will in turn promote responsible and sustainable tourism practices (Shen, 2009). It
is crucial to understand that effective management of communication during and after a disaster
is the foundation of a successful recovery and reconstruction of any tourism destination.
Effective media coverage will facilitate an actual disaster management strategy and neutralize
the possibility of damaging the Nepalese tourism industry.
2. Volunteer Tourism
Whilst circumstances may prove to be less than ideal, the Nepal tourism should strive to
customize the disaster into an opportunity which will encourage tourists to voluntarily turn up
and help with the rebuilding process. When decently structured, volunteer tourism can be vital
tool in the rebuilding phase (Morgan, 2015). In order to effectively accomplish the desired
positive implications, the volunteer tourism program should aim to understand the current
corresponding environmental, social and economic standpoints which will in turn enhance

sustainability. Also, through volunteer tourism, the Nepalese tourism industry will able to raise
funds which is vital to the restoration process. Generally, volunteer tourism will provide new
opportunities for the Nepalese tourism industry and promote the countrys general recovery
spirit.
3. Redevelopment of the damaged areas
Just like image reconstruction, redevelopment of damaged areas is very crucial to the
reenactment of the Nepalese tourism industry. Redevelopment and restoration of damaged areas
after a catastrophe will ensure that the tourists worries and fears are effectively neutralized
(Drabek, 1995). Reconstruction and revival of the Nepalese tourism infrastructure is most likely
going to be the most difficult process. The process will demand major investments with the
inclusion of accommodation costs, assessment of trekking routes, road reconstruction,
assessment of the tourist attraction sites and above all marketing campaigns to aid in altering the
publicized negative images after the earthquake. The process will provide the Nepal tourism
industry with a real challenge, but the end result will be rewarding.
Conclusion
Prior to the earthquake, Nepal was a land of extreme undisputed beauty. The Himalayas
visual heights, the colorful culture, unique ancient histories, beautiful sceneries and the
fascinating trekking land clearly distinguished Nepal as one of the best global tourist attraction
sites. Over the course of the past decade, the tourism sector has been the leading industry in
Nepal emerging as one of the main foreign exchange earners and generating extensive
employment opportunities thereby contributing significantly to the growth of Nepals economy.
The industry has also outstandingly contributed to the conservation of Nepals art and culture.

But then disaster struck and the whole perspective changed. The earthquake has characteristically
left Nepals economy in shatters. Being one of the worlds poorest economies, Nepal should not
allow one of its major economic contributors remain in peril. The long term rebound of Nepals
economy lies in the hands of a successful reenactment of The Nepalese tourism industry.
