We have got to stop profiling. We
see people of a different color, or with
a different religion, or from a different
neighborhood, and we make faulty
assumptions. We have to end profiling.
We dont have enough people
who are disturbed by the inequality
and the injustice in our society. If
everything in our own backyard seems
okay, then we are satisfied with the
status quo.
We are on a counterproductive
cycle in this country in that we only

Grandmother Pam Berra: She Just Keeps Going Become A Taxfrom page 6B
said. Except she was very quiet and
very shy, but Daniel never has a quiet
moment. He talks nonstop and is so
active.
When asked what made his Mimi
special, Daniel paused a moment, then
said, She plays swords and reads stories to me, like Thomas the Tank
Engine.
Alex said that Berra fixes my broken toys and makes bags for me to put
my stuff in.
Molly thought awhile, then said,
She plays lots of games with us and
she comes to my dance recitals, and we
have sleepovers in the living room
with lots of blankets.
Besides dance recitals, Berra
attends the grandkids ballgames, and
indulges Daniels love for trains with
regular trips to the Museum of
Transportation.

belongs to St. Pauls Lutheran Church
in Des Peres.
When speaking about raising a
4-year-old at this stage in her life, she
said, You dont think about it, you
just do what you have to do, what all
of us parents do.
Of course, you dont always make
the right decisions, as is part of motherhood, she said. Without God in my
life, I couldnt do it.

Aide Volunteer
AARP Foundation is looking
to build its team of tax-loving
volunteers. Tax-Aide is a free
tax assistance and preparation
program for taxpayers with low- tomoderate income through the AARP
Foundation.
Tax-Aide
has
volunteer
opportunities for people at every
level of experience who want to
stay sharp while giving back. Tax
volunteers will complete a tax
preparation workshop from the
Internal Revenue Service prior to
working with taxpayers.
There is also a need for grassroots leadership, on-site greeters,
those who are skilled in technology,
and dedicated translators who can
provide language assistance in
Spanish, Mandarin or Cantonese.
The program is offered at
approximately 127 sites in Missouri
including senior centers, libraries
and other convenient locations.
As people age they dont
challenge their minds nearly as
much as they did when they were
younger,
said
Bob
Juergens,
volunteer
Tax-Aide
state
coordinator. AARP Foundation TaxAide volunteers are not only helping
people within their community but
they are giving their mind a workout
as well.
Tax-Aide, in its 48th year, is the
nations largest free tax assistance
and preparation service.
