Observation

Tooth Brushing Activity

Through this SBE, I had gained a lot of knowledge and experience from
this activity.
First of all, this activity will be done by the students in the morning time.
In this activity, students need to follow the rules during brushing their teeth.
There was a school nurse who taught them the ways to brush their tooth as
well. The school nurse will took out a large demonstration model set of teeth,
a large toothbrush, and dental floss, so that the students can know the steps
of brushing tooth. Besides that, it will develop the habits of brushing tooth in
their daily lives instead of having a clean and fresh tooth.
Their responsibility is to provide nursing care and health counseling to
students and staff, a community that includes those with chronic illnesses,
disabilities and mental health conditions such as ADHD and autism spectrum
disorders.

Teaching and learning lesson

I was given the opportunity to follow Madam Wong who taught the
subject of English Language. The class that I entered was year 1. Based on
my observation, I have found out that Madam Wong has used some of the
teaching aids like paper which has the words and pictures on it. By using it,
she taught the students to pronounce the word and she explained the
meaning of the words to them. She also asked the students to match the
pictures with the words. Besides that, I found that the students were having
difficulties in spelling and annunciating vocabularies. I thought teacher could
make use of phonics, the simple but fundamental knowledge in order to make
both the teaching and learning more effective.
In addition, I have noticed on how Madam Wong handles the whole
class, when to ask questions and how to handle the students who have
different characters. From my observation, some of the students are very
active whilst some of them are reserved. As a result, different methods of
handlings are carried out to each different student.

From this experience, I have learnt that all the techniques and teaching
aids are very helpful in the process of teaching and learning. Students can
understand easily and the props help the process of teaching and learning
easier and smoother.
3.3 Interviews
I have done the interviews with a number of key people in this school
which are the headmaster, senior assistants such as PK 1, PK HEM, teachers
and student. After done my interviews with them, I have learnt many useful
things about the roles of them in this school and the importance of the
administration of them.
From these interviews, the ways of interactions with them are
concerned. The skills of communicating with them are very important as it is
how they will have the impression on us. If we do not communicate well with
others, eventually others will not communicate well with us. What I have
gained from this is like how we use the proper language or words when
speaking with someone who is much respected. We should always focus and
concentrate when they answer the questions that we ask.
Last but not least, interviews also can identify the attitude and the mind
of the person we interview. For example, if the person whom we interview
speaks a lot, we can know that he or she is not a reserved type of person. If a
person speaks well, we can also know the level of education of the person
too. Usually, people who are well educated speak in a language that is deep
and their voice tone is much better than people who are not educated.
Through interview, we can get know the scope of them as below:

3.2 Checklist
I have also gained some new knowledge from the way of checklist. This
is because the checklist which is provided from each different aspect from the
structure and administration of the school are counted to ensure the surveys
are much more easier to be conducted. Furthermore, this checklist also acts
as a reference for us to ensure there is no mistake or shortage of information.
The key to effectively using a checklist is creating a list method that works for
us. The reason why checklists are good is simple and it is easy for us to
remember the things. When you do something that involved multiple steps, it
is likely that you would forget one or two of them. We need to use checklists
ensures that we wont forget anything.
Besides that, checklists put everything I need to do right in front of me. I can see
the beginning, middle and end of what needs to be done. Though this helps some
people tackle tasks in front of them, it can also be distracting. If you are the type who
prefers to take things one step at a time, you might feel overwhelmed by a checklist.
Detail-oriented people might struggle with a large collection of items, while big-picture
people might excel using a checklist.
In a nutshell, checklists organize what needs to be accomplished so nothing is
forgotten. Detail-oriented people might enjoy having a definite path through their day.
Creating a checklist in the morning gives your day direction. However, organizing a
checklist might be too time-consuming. Some people get caught up in the details of
the list when they should have been focused on actual work. If you find yourself too
focused on list-making, try accomplishing a few of the tasks and then return to
creating the list.
