So gloriously Siti

By Hafidah Samat
and Shannon Teoh
TRANKSRIPSI
SITI NORHALIZA
SITI NORHALIZA PRODUCTIONS (M)
Sdn Bhd.

Siti never fails to impress with her amazing voice. When you
talk about class, the Kuala Lipis- born comes to mind. She
makes simple tracks sound effortlessly good.
This album, her 11th effort so far, is more personal than its
predecessors. In recent months, Siti has been romantically
linked to a certain Datuk for the past month and Transkripsi
is an expression of her vulnerability and feeling during this
time.
The opener is a treat as Siti surprises in the funky Siti
Sana Sini.
She poses the topic of falling in love.
A gorgeously,
wonderfully penned tune with a hefty dose of soul.
Biarlah Rahsia is a melancholic and hauntingly soulful
tune. Her vibrating soulful voice captures the essence of the
song even as she croons about loneliness.
The songstress also delights with the Middle Easterninfluenced Hidup Penuh Bicara.
Her forte though, is still songs matter of heart. You have
to listen to Bila Harus Memilih. The arrangement is simple but
her delivery is so powerful that you cannot help but to feel the
emotions.
Pastikan is a gem, as is Tanpa Dendam di hati with its self
assuring tone.
The album ends on a sad note with self consoling
Impiankan Nyata.
Transkripsi deserves the highest acclaim. Hopefully, it
will get the attention it deserves. One of the best local albums
Ive heard in ages. - HS
