    The Akshara Charts are big calendar size charts that can be hung on the wall, for the teacher to talk with her students. The themes in the chart are simple and daily themes like My School, My Family, Fruits and Vegetables etc These charts give good opportunities to the teacher to speak English in her classroom. Once hung on the wall everyone can see it and using the structured conversation guide (‘Lesson Plan) in the Teachers Manual a teacher can speak words and sentences along with her students.

    Mr. Sun Goes On A Holiday

    Mr. Sun was bright and yellow. He helped


    But one day he took a holiday and stopped
    the sparrow, the squirrel, the honey bee
    shining. It became dark. There was no light.
    and the water.
    The sparrow on the tree The water said :
    The honey bee said: The squirrel said:
    said:

    Why is it so dark?

    Mr. Sun cannot take


    How will i go up How will I find

    Mr. Sun felt very sad. He said, I am really sorry. I will not take a holiday. I will shine again.

    Everyone was happy. Everyone needs the bright, yellow sun. Animals need the sun.
    Plants need the sun. Water needs the sun to go up and become rain. We all need the sun.

    Unity Is Strength

    Balu, the bull, liked to graze all alone.


    The other bulls grazed far away.

    Shera, the tiger saw Balu. He wanted


    to attack Balu and eat him up.

    Balu saw Shera and got very scared.

    All the bulls joined together and


    rushed towards Shera. They pointed
    their horns towards Shera. They were
    very angry.

    He ran as fast as he could and joined


    his friends.

    Shera saw all the bulls and was afraid. He ran away into the forest.
    When the bulls were together they were very strong.
