Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of working and living overseas

Poverty in many developing countries is the leading cause of overseas migration. In this
regard, there are various advantages of working abroad including and not limited to cultural
integration and adequate remuneration. First and foremost, working and living overseas offers an
individual to sample various cultures thus giving him or her opportunity to relate easily.
Assimilation In light of this, working and living abroad promotes the culture of intermarriages
thus giving the offsprings the dual citizenship where necessary. For example, United States of
America President Obamas father created an opportunity for the current president through
intermarriage with an American woman. Furthermore, working and living overseas supplements
ones professional status within and beyond the territorial sovereignty (Tamas, 2014). This is
because the workplace environment is represented by individuals from diverse demographics
thus able to increase working experience and public relations skills. Remuneration overseas is
not comparable to native. This implies that working and living overseas provides prospects of
increasing investments either back home or overseas. It is worth noting that a substantial number
of people who work and reside overseas are motivated by commensurate remuneration.
Moreover, organizations overseas offer adequate services such as medical insurance. Individuals
prefer working and living overseas as a result of affordable living standards. In this regard,
working and living overseas establishes a global competitive human resource.
Tamas (2014) argues that language barrier rank highest among the disadvantages
experienced by individuals living and working overseas. This is because many of the individuals
are improperly trained on newer languages. For example, an African from an English dominated
country would find it difficult assimilating in a French speaking nation overseas. Language as the
primary mode of communication injects negative energy towards those who dont understand the

dialect. Cognizant of the existence of stigmatization perpetuated through racial discrimination,
