capacity microwave radio system with SDH/ETHERNET hybrid transport capability
suitable for a variety of network applications including mobile backhaul transmission.
1.02 The FRX-3E radio equipment operates in the radio frequency bands of
4/5/U6/8/11 GHz with 40 MHz and U4/L6/ 7/8/13 GHz with 28/29/29.65/30 MHz RF
channel spacing. The FRX-3E radio equipment is fully solid state and designed to
meet ETSI, R&TTE, ITU-T and ITU-R Recommendations for long haul and high
capacity digital microwave radio system.
1.03 The modulation scheme is fixed or adaptive modulation (AM) operation of
16/32/64/128/256 QAM depending on the propagation condition and forward error
correction type is low density parity check (LDPC).
1.04 The FRX-3E radio equipment can be used in various types of SDH/ETHERNET
networks such as ring, star, linear or nodal configurations, and provide high-quality
performance even in severe transmission path conditions such as over water, over
mountains.
1.05 The FRX-3E radio equipment can operate in flexible RF arrangements, with
Space Diversity, applying single or dual terminal configuration, accommodating up
to sixteen (16) transceivers per rack.
1.06 Various types of optional auxiliary signal transmission are available such as
2.048 Mbit/s wayside traffic, and 64 kbit/s digital service channels.
- Compliant with the European Unions RoHS-6, REACH and WEEE, and Safety
requirements

Addition of Band Elimination Filter (BEF) is needed only for innermost radio
frequency channels to improve the in-station transmit-receive interference.
Therefore, BEF will be added in the innermost channel filter chain on site or at
factory when the innermost channels are allocated initially or by the customers
future RF channel expansion.
Main BEF performance is as follows;
(1) Band eliminated attenuation:
25 dB
(2) 25 dB bandwidth:
32 MHz
0.4 dB (typical)
Table 4.1 shows the number of BEF for all RF band used.

Note-1: When innermost channels are Co-Polarized and AlternatePolarized with separate antenna in the transmit diversity application,
BEF both transmit and receive is not needed because of more than
50 dB Front-to-Side (F/S) attenuation.
Note-2: When receive side BEF is needed, SD receive side BEF is
also needed to maintain the similar IF-IF performance between main
receiver and SD receiver.

Note-1: Above insertion loss calculation is based on the loss equalized RF branching network model in
accordance with Figures of Appendix-A. Therefore in case that not loss equalized RF branching network or
not Fujitsu recommended RF channel allocation rule is applied, insertion loss should be calculated
individually. If insertion loss is critical for system design calculation, please contact Fujitsu technical staff.
Note-2: In case an innermost RF channel is allocated, one BEF or two are required to be inserted just
before the innermost RF channel's circulator in the RF branching network. And in the following BPF chain,
the insertion loss increases 1 dB per BEF inserted. The number of required BEF is shown in the table of
previous section named "Addition of Band Elimination Filter (BEF)".
Note-3: Above insertion loss is typical value for sum of TX and Rx side. For guaranteed value add 1 dB.

Figure 9.1e Typical RPS System for N+1 Double Terminal Operation
9-6
Switching Section
The switching section of Radio Protection Switch (RPS) is activated on a hop
basis , therefore protection switching is activated between stations despite of
terminal station, repeater station and back-to-back terminal station.
Figure 4.2 shows the relationship between terminals and a repeater for the
RPS switching section.
OW/UC/WS Signal
The Radio Protection Switching of Orderwire, User Channel on SOH and
Wayside traffic on SOH/RFCOH is linked to the operation of STM-1 main
signal.
Human Machine Interface (HMI)
Supervising of switching status and manual switch operation are carried out
through Web-based local craft terminal, Web LT. There is no display/ control
panel for RPS equipped on the FRX-3E itself.
The Web LT can supervise/control all FRX-3E equipment (NE = Network
Element) within a Digital Communication Channel (DCC) group to which the
local terminal is connected. The Web LT and SNMP manager can manage
all FRX-3E equipment together with other communication equipment.
SW (Switching device in unipolar level)
The SW is a part of the baseband interface (BB INTF) unit. This switch has
the manual/automatic DADEing (Differential Automatic time Delay
Equalization) function between protection and any of main channels and
performs the hitless (errorless) switching on fade.
Detailed SW information is as follows;

General Description
FRX-3E radio has the monitoring and control functions using Data Communication
Channel (DCC). DCC is a section overhead in the STM-1 signal assigned for
maintenance and operation. For FRX-3E radio, equipment management function is
made by Web based local craft terminal (Web LT). Web LT is a local terminal that is the
main human machine interface for operation, maintenance, system setup and tune-up.
The FRX Web LT is designed as an embedded web server using HTTP (Hyper Text
Transfer Protocol) protocol and HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language) document
format on an IP (Internet Protocol) network. An operator can manage the FRX NE by
accessing with ordinary web browser client software. Table 6-1 shows outline of
