@MagneticSpeak:
The majority of your
slides should have
only one line, 1 picture or 1 graph. Simple = Better.

@JoelHeffner:
An effective handout
is more important
than glitzy
PowerPoint slides.

Word Power
Quote of the Month
Leadership rests on two ideals that
often conflict with each othertrust
and power. Trust has taken over from
authority as the modern foundation of
leadership. The moral concepts behind
empowermentresponsibility, trust,
respect, and loyalty are reciprocal
moral concepts; that is, they only exist
if they are part of the relationship between followers and leaders Honesty is one way to resolve the tension
between power and trust. Ethics,

the Heart of Leadership by Joanne Ciulla, p.100.

The role of the Grammarian, at a

Toastmasters meeting, is to
bring a word for the day and listen for its usage. Here are some
words we have used at our club
meetings:
Bodacious (adj) = impressive
Cantankerous (adj.)= badtempered
Circuitous (adj)= roundabout
Inexplicable (adj.)= unaccountable

Kitschy (adj.) = tacky, gaudy

Role of VP Public Relations

The VP of PR is responsible for

public relations and club publicity programs. Also, this officer
is charged to develop a plan to
increase awareness of Toastmasters through local news and
social media.

In photo, new member Sondra Chapman receives her Toastmasters pin and also a ribbon
for Best Table Topics Speaker from VP of
Membership, Dennis OConnor.
Music teacher and great grandmother to four
children, Sondra describes herself as a busy
retiree. She enjoys Toastmasters because
everyone has a different perspective. Club
meetings allow Sondra to open up her mind.
She says the meetings are not the same old,
same old. She thinks her fellow Toastmasters
are very creative.
Why is she a Toastmaster? This is a wonderful way to get to know people, make a difference in your life, and in the lives of others."
