After 28.05.2003, the teaching experience gained in only the following four
Teaching Hospitals of Defence Services shall be counted and that shall be at par with
any other recognized Medical Colleges/Teaching Institutions:-

DNB:
Those who pass DNB from a Non-teaching Hospital (other then Medical
Colleges/Teaching Institutions recognized by MCI as Teaching Institutions) would be
required to have further three years experience as Junior Resident in a Teaching
Hospital, before they could be considered eligible for appointment to the post of Senior
Resident. They would also be required to work for another one year as Senior Resident
(after DNB) in a Teaching Hospital before they could be considered as eligible for
appointment to the post of Assistant Professor.
Those who pass DNB from a Teaching Hospital (Medical College/Teaching
Institution) would be eligible for appointment to the post of Senior Resident. However,
they would be required to work for another one year (after DNB) as Senior
Resident/Equivalent post in a Teaching Hospital before they could be considered
eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Professor.
Post Graduate Diploma:
Those who pass postgraduate Diploma (2 years course) from a recognized
Medical Teaching Institution would be required to have further one year experience
before they could be considered eligible for appointment to the post of Senior Resident
in that Specialty.
These clarifications are to be incorporated in all the letters to be sent to Assessors
for strict compliance.

this seems to be false. In the operative list, since last 7 days, there is no
major surgery being done & 3 minor operations being done in a week.
Daily average of OPD is 147 & of IPD is 10; daily average bed occupancy
is 70 75 %; this again seems to be false. When the hospital round was
taken & registers checked, majority of patients were either post-partum or
preoperatively admitted for investigations only.
The Department has 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professors & 3 Assistant
Professors; resultantly there is deficiency of Faculty: (a) Asst. Prof.: 2.
Designation of Resident/ Sr. Resident and Faculty not clearly mentions.

attached with the Department who was unable to do any office work.

Speciality clinic like Urology is not functional due to retirement of
consultants.
There is only 1 Teaching Unit which has 30 beds in the Parel hospital.
Extension of 5 beds each at Mulund & Worli cannot be considered. There
are 30 nonteaching beds.
Total number of major surgeries has decreased from 440 in 2011 to 348 in
2013. It is not commensurate with average daily total operative load of 5-8
major operations. There is data mismatch.
Consultants who are nonteaching are appointed to provide special
services. These services are not provided through teaching Faculty.

within the stipulated time and the Committee decided to grant 1 weeks time to submit
the clarification/ documents, failing which, the applications shall be rejected.
