I feel honored to be here this day as a student of Dr. S.Maheswari,Associate

Professor and Head of the department of Mathematics, who retires after 34years of
fruitful and dedicated service in this institution run by the sisters of the cross. I was
also fortunate to be a student of the first batch of her career when she entered this
campus in the year 1981 as a young and enthusiastic teacher.
She completed her graduation in Seethelakshmi Ramaswamy College and
post graduation and M.Phil. in Regional Engineering College ,Trichy(now called
National Institute of Technology). Even though it was her maiden entry in Holy
Cross College as a young lecturer , today she has many successful achievements
to her credit to carry with as pleasant memories in her 3 decades of academic
journey.
A teacher par excellence , she is unassuming, disciplined and meticulous.
She has served the department from the time of headship of (late)Mrs.Melucina
Vasanthan with her profound teaching, as she reached out to each and every
student of her class ,through her interesting ,simplified and efficient teaching

methodologies. I am one of her students who has enjoyed her class as she was a
teacher with concern and humour.
As a person she had never missed even a single opportunity of helping
others to the maximum possible extent. She is also emotional in the sense that her
description during our shopping will be a temptation for us to go for a trial with the
product. We have also enjoyed the company and motherly affection of her mother
during our excursion trips with the students. She is a person with 100%
involvement in whichever task she undertakes.
With keen interest in Applied Mathematics ,she has developed interest in
theoretical and practical Statistics which has enhanced her students,research
scholars of our own discipline and other disciplines to complete their projects and
research work. Her efficiency in Statistical analysis blended with the computer
knowledge has contributed towards a complete documentation and summary in,
all the reports prepared by our college as a step forward in accreditation .She has
helped many students in their studies even after the working hours.She has also
helped in many of the administrative computational tasks like income tax,
database of staff details ,etc. She has been a member of admission committee,
internal test committee and many other teams in our college.

She has served the institution in the form of many responsibilities. A few of
them are:
Senate member of Bharathidasan university,Nodal officer, active member of
AUT from the day of its functioning in our college and also treasurer of the same.
A teachers growth begins with her knowledge and the attitude of updating
according to the latest trend. Her Ph.D. degree after 30 years of her service is an
example for her untiring interest in Mathematics.
She has been invited by many institutions to share her valuable expertise as
Quiz mistress, examiner and resource person.
God has His own plan in her life with blessing of miracles in her personal
life. Once with her health problem and another time after an accident.Yes ,it was a
miraculous guidance of God the almighty whose special care has made this day
possible in her life.
It is the special time for you to fill your days with enjoyment for the rest of your
life. A very special time to look back your days with satisfaction and look ahead
for the upcoming days with anticipation.Your dedication to improving young lives
has been inspiring.You will always be remembered as a caring and energetic
teacher.
