Townsend will discuss geopolitical issues and their impact on global supply chains.
“Her message will expand traditional views of risk while offering new ways to mitigate it,” said
John Caltagirone, vice president and global practice leader, supply chain strategy at the Revere
Group and CSCMP’s Annual Global Conference 2008 track chair. “Townsend’s insights are

for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism and chaired the Homeland Security Council. She
previously served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor

Department of Justice under the administrations of President H.W. Bush, President Bill Clinton,
and President George W. Bush. She served in a variety of senior positions including as Counsel
to the Attorney General for Intelligence Policy. She began her prosecutorial career in 1985,
serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York.
Graduating cum laude from the American University in 1982, Townsend received a BA
in political science and a BS in psychology. She earned her JD from the University of San Diego
School of Law in 1984. In 1986, she attended the Institute on International and Comparative Law
in London, England, and later attended the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University

She currently is a consultant to corporations on global strategic risk and contingency planning.
CSCMP’s Annual Global Conference will host over 3,500 supply chain professionals
from around the world who will gather for educational information and networking opportunities
in Denver.
“This conference truly is the most important supply chain event of the year,” said
Caltagirone. “The 2008 program is the best yet, with a lineup that includes numerous net-
working events and over 200 educational sessions with expert speakers who will share
the latest information on significant global supply chain issues.”
Attendees who register before May 31, 2008 will receive $400 US off the on-site rate.
