Business problem statement

There are 12 Exxon and 6 local gas stations which operates in Memphis TN. The main problem
is that manual paperwork does not tells Sales versus Purchase Margin, which has direct impact
on inventory in hand. Grocery Margins was the major problem. Secondly owners were unaware
of Gasoline margins. Owners, Supervisors and Managers of Gas stations wanted to have a look at
monthly and yearly margins which was not available in manual paperwork. Furthermore,
corporate office had no control over grocery and gasoline prices. Corporate office wanted to have
access of grocery and gasoline prices so that they could set 40% margin on each grocery item.
The toughest part of managing a gas station business is simply gathering all of the information

you need in order to achieve big business results. Finally corporate office needed a platform for
the payroll data entry which tells them payroll percentage of a certain store on weekly, monthly
and yearly basis.
Name of the company or organization
The name of the company has already been mentioned in Introduction part. Furthermore Radiant
Group of Companies was once known as Tennessee Management Group Limited Liability
Company which included 11 Exxon gas stations.
Brief description of proposed solution
Radiant Group of company was looking for an electronic Solutions which could pull all kind of
reports for all items present in Gas station that was a real challenge. They needed automatized
data collection which could show pool margins at different locations and getting timely inventory
was a major issue. They wanted to have a system which could connect to Cash Registers at
different locations and upload data in a server showing daily departmental sales. Radiant group
wanted item level information that updates on every shift, so managers, purchasers and corporate
staff always have detailed information on overstocked and understocked items. They can also see
reports on fast moving, slow moving and dead items, too. They also wanted a system that can
also do automatic ordering, using the item-level information in the system to create orders for
each supplier that are based on current actual inventory levels and historical item velocity.
Radiant Group contacted Petrosoft Inc and was able to get a brilliant deal on an electronic
software which runs on internet cloud. They have a complete package but I think it's good for
people who have 20 stores and who run like corporate stores.

Conclusion
Information Technology is the basis of all businesses in todays world. Retail stores like Gas
stations needs to have an electronic back office system platform which enables users to monitor
everyday operation. A Company cant take decisions without having access to sales and margin
reports of all categories. Radiant Group had limited success before this platform was introduced.
They earned revenues of $ 2 million last year in 2014, which is about 12% more than year 2013.
