The 11th National Human Resources Summit- “Leading Organisational Transformation: The HR Frontier”

Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) recently organized the 11th National Human Resources Summit on 18 March 2010
at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.
With the theme “Leading Organisational Transformation: The HR Frontier, the one-day Summit was graced by the Minister of
Human Resources, YB Datuk Dr. S. Subramaniam and Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, Chief Secretary to the Government
who delivered the Luncheon Keynote Address and Special Keynote Address respectively.
During the Summit, the speakers had presented and discussed various pertinent issues such as HR’s challenges and
opportunities in ensuring a smooth and sustainable recovery; Upcoming trends in talent acquisition and development; Best
practices in talent succession and continuity planning; Generating and channeling employee engagement for business and
performance improvement; Building a broad-based leadership line-up; and Capitalising on knowledge management & retention.

Synopsis :The AXIATA 7 ASEAN LEADERSHIP FORUM is an Annual Series organised by the
Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI) with the support of the ASEAN Secretariat, the
Hanns Seidel Foundation, the ASEAN Business Forum and ASEANAFFAIRS. Now in its 7th
edition, the Axiata ASEAN Leadership Forum has brought together Government, Business
and Thought Leaders to reflect on the key challenges facing ASEAN, evaluate the business
and investment opportunities brought about by AFTA and regional FTAs ASEAN has forged
with other countries like China, India, Korea, Australia and New Zealand as well as to feel
the pulse of ASEAN. The signing of the ASEAN Charter, the establishment of the ASEAN
Inter-governmental Commission on Human Rights and the accession to the ASEAN Treaty
of Amity and Cooperation by the USA last year are major landmark events for ASEAN.

Synopsis : The education system in Malaysia has been undergoing changes and reforms as spelled
out in the National Education Blueprint 2006-2010 and National Higher Education Action
Plan 2007-2010. Meanwhile, further emphasis has been given to education development
in recent Education NKRA. As the end of the initial transformation phase draws closer, it is
timely and crucial that we review our progress and examine the next milestones that would
lead to an education system that encompasses a strong foundation in primary education, a
systematic secondary education and a competitive but flexible tertiary education.
Entering into its 14th edition, this year’s summit shall continue to reconvene leading education practitioners and key
