Externally as absorbent or drying powder.
In large doses are cathar*c and ingredient of

the popular cathar*c lemonade purga*ves


(dose is 8 grams).

Procedure for the preparation

MgSO4.7H2O (15 grams) / Na2CO3.H2O (7.6 grams)


(Separate beaker containers)

Both in 125mL of cold dist. water


Filter if necessary

Test the mixture (litmus paper)

If not alkaline

Mark the volume. Boil the mixture gently (15 minutes)

(+) water from Ame to Ame.

Transfer to Buchner funnel; allow to drain


completely.

Procedure for the preparation


MgSO4.7H2O (15 grams) / Na2CO3.H2O (7.6 grams)
(Separate containers)

Both in 25mL of boiling d . water



Filter if necessary before mixing the hot solu*ons

Evaporate the mixture to dryness

(+) 50 mL of dis*lled water

Heat to boiling for 30 minutes (maintain original volume)

Wash the residue with boiling water (small por*ons)

UnAl the last porAon of washings is free for sulfate

Dry (without hea*ng) and weigh

Reserve 1/3 of the product
