CLASSROOM INTERACTION PROCEDURE

Introduction
Do other animals have a nutrient transport system similar to that
of human beings?
The micro organisms do not have blood or circulatory system,
isnt it?

PUPILS RESPONSE

No

Yes

Then how do the nutrients reach all parts of the body?

Presentation
Transport of Nutrients in other organisms (B/B)
Activity 1
Teacher explain the transport of nutrition in amoeba and
paramecium
Consolidation
Amoeba and paramecium are unicellular organisms. The

Pupils listen carefully

cytoplasm of these organisms streams in a cyclic manner. Food

particles reach all parts of the cell by this movement called
cyclosis.

Evaluation
.Name some unicellular organisms
.What is Cyclosis
Activity 2
Teacher showing the video of transport of nutrients in amoeba
and paramecium

Pupil watch and understand

The food and its way of obtained different from organism to

organism. In amoeba food takes sing finger like projections of
cell surface called as pseudopodia, they fuse over the food
particle by forming a food vacuole. Inside that food vacuoles
complex substances are broken down into simple substances. Pupils listen
Then these simple substances diffuse into cytoplasm. The
remaining undigested material is moved to the surface of cell and
thrown outside. Paramecium is also a unicellular organism; it
contains cytoplasm, trichocysts, gullet, food vacuole, macro
nucleus and the micro nucleus. In paramecium the cytoplasm
streams in a cyclic manner and through this movement the food
particles reach all parts of the cell. This movement is called
cyclosis.

Generalization

Pupil Understand

Through the cyclosis the movement of cytoplasm in amoeba and

paramecium food particles reaches all parts of the cell.

Formative evaluation
Review questions
1) Name some unicellular organisms?
2) What is cyclosis?
3) How the food particles reach in all parts of amoeba and paramecium

Enrichment activity
Find out the different ways in which nutrient transport takes place in various life forms and record it in your science diary.
