Structura principal a unei nave este corpul navei.

In cadrul corpului navei se afla


spatiile intre punti sau platformele pe care se baseaza marfa. Platforma
superioar sau puntea superioar, acoper magaziile n care marfa este
depozitat-stivuita. Acesta este ncrcat i descrcat, fie prin macarale de pe
chei-macaralele fixe sau macaralele mobile.Bigile navale sunt operate de
vinci.Bigile navale sunt fixate pe catarg care stau pe puntea superioara.

precum i vincile sunt localizate intodeauna la prova navei.
Partea din dreapta cum privesti spre prova se numete tribord, iar cealalt
babord. Latimea maxima este cea mai mare de pe nava. Pescajul este adncimea
masurata de la fundul navei pana la suprafata navei. Cpitanul i ofierii stau n
cabine. Acestea sunt localizate n partea din mijloc a navei langa puntea de
comanda. Ceilali membri ai echipajului triesc n cabine. Ele sunt, de obicei, n
partea din spate a nave.
