The Method:
For the 2x2x2 and 3x3x3 I use letter pair 1 syllable words. For this method I use solely my auditory
memory to remember the locations of the pieces. Each sticker has a letter and I cycle pieces on the
cube using sticker cycles, similar to Stefan Pochmann's method, only I use commutators to solve. I
combine two letters into a 1 syllable word, and I have a prepared word for every possible
combination of letters I can see. I do not use all combinations of letters possible because some
letters are on my buffer corner or edge, or on the same piece that I am cycling to, and these
combinations are impossible for me to see in the course of a blindfolded solve. I will not list the letter
combinations I do not have, but simply the ones I do. The list on this page includes all letters
necessary for me to memorize either edges or corners using this technique.
When memorizing I either speak these words out loud softly, or I say them to myself in my head. I
then use my auditory memory to remember the order of the words and the sounds that they make. I
do not try to visualize any meaningful phrases or interactions, I simply hear the sounds. Below you
will find my list of prepared words for all combinations of letters. All words are pronouncable using
only 1 syllable when pronounced in American English in my, partially southern, but mostly standard
English dialect. I have tried to give pronunciation tips on certain words to aid in this.
