TESTIMONIAL
Dr. Carl Adams is one of the most outstanding and creative individuals I have ever known. His
work around the world in the field of environmental engineering is a hallmark for his colleagues,
both in terms of his energy, technical curiosity, and creativity and his practical and innovative
approaches to difficult problems. I have observed (his patented invention), the outstanding
AIS Treatment Systems efficiency and flexibility at one of the largest petrochemical complexes
in the world in Taiwan. This AIS System is considered a State of the Art wastewater system
by the owner of Formosa Plastics Group, the second largest chemical company in the world,
and a very sophisticated and technologically demanding organisation.
Davis L. Ford, Past President, American Academy of Environmental Engineers
WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND:
This is a comprehensive Wastewater Treatment course for professionals dealing with all major aspects
of wastewater treatment in refineries, petrochemical and other industrial plants. It will enable technical
personnel to fully understand the drivers, processes and biology behind wastewater treatment, and
make positive contribution towards optimising the performance of their own wastewater plants.

Key learning points include:

Evaluate the fundamental and scientific basis governing the design and performance of wastewater
treatment technologies
Appreciate the key design parameters behind a cost effective wastewater treatment plant
Understand the role of each unit process within typical treatment process trains, their interaction
and the context of when they are applied
Achieve a deeper understanding of activated sludge fundamentals and expectations
Understand how sludge handling and off-gas control can be made more effective
Optimise oil & grease removal, PH control and equalisation
Explore real case studies and gain practical knowledge you can apply immediately back in your
organisation

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
This workshop is designed to present current state-of-the-art approaches to technology evaluations and selection for the most costeffective industrial wastewater management. Basic design and operational fundamentals of the major unit processes in use today will be
thoroughly discussed and applicable case histories will used to define decision-making in the sensitivities to energy, residue formation,
chemical addition and operational complexities. Comparisons between leading technologies will be critically presented and debated in
the classroom. The workshop discussions will be open and on-going during the lecture presentations.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The course is oriented towards the industrial sectors of Oil & Gas (upstream and downstream), Organic Chemicals (including
Pharmaceuticals), and the Coking Process of the Steel Industry. The course material is a hands on application. The information will
benefit designers, operators and managers who are pursuing the top performance of established technologies in the most cost-effective
manner. All appropriate technologies will be presented.
This course would be relevant to the following job titles (list is not exhaustive):
Plant Manager
Section Head
Sr Manager/Manager
