Subject: Request for approval in conducting research

This memorandum is a sought after request, for the writing of my research project. The purpose
of this research is to discover what kind of communication can maximize group productivity and
efficiency, through the use of guidelines and mapping. This type of research is highly valuable,
due to improper communication causing lack luster results in a work force. If this research data
can be collected, results would show maximized profits, with group hours serving as input.

PROBLEM
The main problem stems from poor communication sense in the work environment. Group
communication when used inefficiently or not enough can lead to negative results in the work
force. These negative results, while not all completely harmful, unintentionally minimize end
productivity. If detailed communication between group members can be reached, meaning that
every group member clearly knows without a doubt the rules and mechanisms that need to be
maintained, the new found efficiency can be nothing but beneficial to the entire company.

OBJECTIVES

What is efficiency in group communication?

Does an unfavorable work environment have any relation to insufficient group

communication?
Showing how efficiency in group communication is beneficial
Discovering unsought after results of continued miscommunication in a work force.

SOLUTION
The format for the solutions, if the request for approval is granted, will be in a well-documented
source of writing. Solutions to the above questions and statements will first address each
objective. Each objective are all interrelated; thus, after answering the main points, the research
will farther elaborate:

Why is this a concern?

Details to support above objectives as needed

The basis of the solution is knowing the type of communication that can be considered efficient.
To know if maximum efficiency exists in a designated workforce, it is important to understand
the tasks, responsibilities, and work ethics of everyone involved. If these points are met, there
will never be a time when the group members involved will not know what is going on.
Maintaining the same leveled headed approach between members of a group is critical to a
groups success.

QUALIFICATION
Im a senior at UNCC, currently in route to finishing with a degree in Computer Science. Due to
my field of expertise, I was privileged to be involved in multitudes of group assignments.
Specifically, these programming assignments requested the use of group communication to
complete projects as needed. When comparing unproductive communication to efficient
communication, how group members help each other and communicate is key on meeting
programming deadlines.

CONCLUSION
Poor results due to improper communication is something that everyone looks to avoid. While
any skilled group can finish a group task given them, only those who incorporate communication
efficiency can truly expect the most consistent results. Guidelines to maintaining good work
communication and efficiency is what I aim to bring into existence. Its only through trials and
discovery can it be brought to existence.
