This document announces the "I Am Woman" judged art competition and exhibit hosted by the Southern Arts Society from April 27 through June 8, 2010. The competition is open to artists 18 years and older and seeks artwork that speaks to themes of womanhood and the feminine experience. Entries will be judged and over $400 in prizes will be awarded. Artists may submit up to two pieces each under specific size and preparation guidelines. An awards reception will be held on May 2nd where the judge, Paula Smith, will present prizes.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists eighteen years and older are eligible. All work must be original, Address ________________________________________ completed within the last two years. All artwork must remain for the duration of the exhibit. This is a judged exhibit. SPECIFICATIONS: Two-dimensional work is restricted to 42" by 42" including frame I have read, understand, and agree with all terms and and must be securely wired. No sawtooth hangers, No clip frames, No non-glare glass requirements as stated in the prospectus will be accepted. Three-dimensional work is limited to 3ft x 3ft and 5ft tall and weighing no more than 75 lbs. All work must be presented in a professional manner, ready to be exhibited. Inadequately prepared work will not be considered for exhibit. JUDGE: Paula Smith was born in Kansas City, MO. She attended the Kansas City Art Institute to receive a BFA in ceramics; then went on to the University of Illinois Fill out COMPLETELY and attach label to upper right corner on (Champaign-Urbana) to receive a MFA in ceramics. Paula moved to Rock Hill in 1987 back of each work PLEASE PRINT and taught at Winthrop University part time in the visual art department until 2000. After teaching ceramics at Gaston College, Dallas, NC, for seven years, Paula currently 2010 Entry #1 teaches at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC and is head of their Artist Name ______________________________________ ceramics department.
