The graph in Fig 4 shows the amplitude and frequency response as is varied between 0 and 1, and in the Fig 5, the
corresponding effect on the impulse response. As it can be seen, the time-domain ripple level increases as decreases.
This shows that the excess bandwidth of the filter can be reduced, but only at the expense of an elongated impulse
response.
When =0, As approaches 0, the roll-off zone becomes infinitesimally narrow, hence:
lim ( ) =
( )
where rect(.) is the rectangular function, so the impulse response approaches sinc(t/T). Hence, it converges to an
ideal filter.
When =1, the non-zero portion of the spectrum is a pure raised cosine, leading to the simplification.

VI. CONCLUSION
Inter Symbol Interference (ISI) is an inevitable consequence that cannot be totally avoided. in this paper, the topics of
how ISI is generated in channel, causes and reasons for ISI and the remedy to avoid and reduce this ISI are discussed.
Also this paper provides the discussions of different type of FIR Pulse Shaping filters are presented among which the
Raised Cosine Filter is the most advantageous due to the fact that it is easy for practical implementation.
