Pedro Martn Jos Mara Surez-Vrtiz Alva (born February 13, 1969 in Callao, Peru) is
a Peruvian singer-songwriter-guitarist. He founded the popular rock band Arena Hash with
his brother Patricio, Arturo Pomar andChristian Meier in 1987; a few years later, the band
broke up and Vrtiz began his solo career.
He is the winner of Orgullosamente Latino 2004 (Proudly Latin 2004) and winner of the
Best Latin Soloist of the Year in Mexico.
He is well known for his multitudinous concerts, his vocal rhythm, his extensive guitar
collection, his null alcohol and tobacco intake (despite his bohemian image), his
philanthropy and his personality.

Biography[edit]
He learned to play the piano and the guitar before he began school. At the age of 18, he
attended the University of Lima, graduating with a degree in communications. In 1985 he
formed his first band, "Paranoia", together with his brother Patricio Surez Vrtiz and
school friends Edward Malaga Trillo, Arturo Pomar, Eduardo Quevedo and Alex
Kornhuber. In 1987, he formed the band Arena Hash with his brother Patricio, Arturo
Pomar and Christian Meier. A few years later the band broke up and Vrtiz began a solo
career.

Gustavo Cerati
Gustavo Adrin Cerati (11 August 1959 4 September 2014), was an Argentine singersongwriter, composer and producer, considered one of the most important and influential
figures of Ibero-American rock and a Latin American rock legend. [1][2][3][4] As a solo artist, and with
his band Soda Stereo, he set the gold standard for Latin American Rock,Rock En Espaol, and
Ibero-American Rock. Soda Stereo became the most important and successful Latin American
rock band of all time, selling out stadiums in their native Argentina and throughout Latin
America and beyond.[5][6]
According to the Spanish fanzine Indy Rock, "Gustavo Cerati is the most influential Rock en
Espaol artist of theAmerican continent, one of the most talented of the Argentinian musical
scene."[7] He was the recipient of many awards throughout his career including
various Grammy's, MTV awards, as well as the MTV (Latin America) Legend Award with Soda
Stereo, the first of its kind.[8][9]
Cerati died on 4 September 2014 at the age of 55, after suffering a stroke four years earlier
in Caracas, Venezuela
and The Talking Heads. In 1982, after various lineup changes that included Richard Coleman,
Daniel Melero, and Andrs Calamaro as well as others, Bosio and Cerati recruited Charly
Alberti as their drummer, thus forming Soda Stereo.[14]
Soda Stereo signed to Sony Music in 1984 and released their debut LP Soda Stereo that same
year. Nada Personal ("Nothing Personal") followed in 1985 giving Soda Stereo their first hit
with "Cuando pase el temblor" ("When the Earthquake Ends"). Soda released Signos ("Signs")
in 1986, Doble Vida ("Double Life") (produced by longtime David Bowie collaborator Carlos
Alomar) in 1988, and Cancin Animal ("Animal Song") in 1990. During the 1990s Soda
Stereo releasedDynamo in 1992, Sueo Stereo ("Stereo Dream") in 1995, and their final
album Comfort y Msica Para Volar ("Comfort and music to fly with") in 1997.
