Oracle's Solaris 11 Implementation Specialist Boot Camp is designed to prepare partners to understand the core
concepts and practical knowledge required in order to successfully pass the Oracle Solaris 11 Installation and
Configuration Essentials Certified Implementation Specialist Exam (1ZO-580) and become an Oracle Solaris Certified
Implementation Specialist. Through a series of lectures and hands on labs, attending partners will gain expertise with
Oracle Solaris 11 powerful new features and be able to demonstrate knowledge on how to effectively utilize these
features during installations and implementations with their customers. This bootcamp has been updated to reflect the
changes released in Oracle Solaris 11.1.
What will we cover:
The Oracle Solaris 11 Implementation Specialist Boot Camp will provide students with a thorough introduction into the
technical implementation of Oracle Solaris 11 installation, maintenance, troubleshooting as well as diving into some of
the advanced features such as the Image Packaging System (IPS), Automated Installation (AI), and Boot Environments
(BE). The combination of required on-line training plus the two day bootcamp which will consist mainly of hands on
labs should prepare students to take and pass the Certified Implementation Specialist exam for Oracle Solaris 11.

Complete basic Solaris 11 installations

Perform advanced installation procedures

Be familiar with system boot and shutdown procedures for Oracle hardware

Troubleshoot boot problems

Manage file systems and storage

Perform software management with the new Image Packaging System

Prerequisite Training and Environment Requirements:

Solaris 10 or prior Solaris version certification

Strong technical grasp of the Oracle Solaris operating system, UNIX in general, and the hardware that it runs on.

The lab exercises for the course require the student to use their own laptop and have installed and running Oracle
VirtualBox. They will use VirtualBox to run all the Solaris 11 lab images for practice. In order to start the course on
time the student should have a fresh installation of the latest version of VirtualBox and the recommended Solaris 11
images downloaded onto their laptop. The students are welcome to alter, configure, and start learning on their own
ahead of class but its recommended for them to have a clean Solaris image installs before class so everyone can start in
the same place and the labs can proceed as smoothly as possible.

Oracle Solaris 11.1 Repository Image (~ 6 GB!)

Download part A and B and concatenate the files into one image. Instructions on the site or Google
instructions for joining the files on your operating system like Windows, Mac, etc.
