Editorial

The EMERALD STAR NEWS Inc.

The Wolfes Den

Hello to each of you. With you and our Advertisers,
we feel like giving each one of you a big Hug. I
love how many of you write me in letters or send me
an E-mail. I love to hear the feedback. I get so many
E-mails, I normally only have room for a few. But I do answer each one I get.
This last week was busy at minimum. I even feel like a call center for out of-town
folks want to know whos the Best place for this or that. I dont mind those calls at all. It
helps me know how several different ways this Newspaper helps people. Most folks
wouldnt understand the behind the scenes here.
You see I only know those whom I know and those folks Advertising in each Edition are
here to help you get settled in, just as we do.
About last weeks disappearance of 100 papers from Exxon, the detectives are
currently viewing the video of who it was that took many, all at once. Listen, I dont mind
you grabbing a few extra for friends or neighbors. But that middle shelf I provided at
Exxon is for those papers from the previous Edition. As a courtesy to those who may have
been out of town. So, as soon as I get a still shot or the entire video. Ill keep you all
posted. We need to rid of these low-life tactics to try and shut down public voices.
You know each time I sit to write this Editorial. My mind will go in a range of topics
( as you know by now). I must say that there is so much going wrong in this world, the
direction of each of our futures are hanging in space. Do you really think that because a
state bans the Muslims, that will stop them? I dont think so. We all must keep an eye
overseas to watch what is taking place daily. How is our military planning to crush and
defeat them? Its strange to know how 1 person is willing to Die and hopes to kill more
people, they feel the more the better?
As I was out of town last weekend. I felt that feeling when I got around big places, lots
of people. Makes your stomach turn. I feel safe, yet because of them, I dont. It only takes
1 person to cause so much damage. Whats worse? He could care less about your life, who
you are, who relies on you, who you Love. You can become just another number or statistic of War.
Yes, I consider this War. At the scale the entire world is getting involved in a Must
remove this ideology from this planet. Isis is going through cities, raping, beating and
murdering women and children. If the Men dont convert, they Die too.
Over 26 US state governors have rejected the settlement of Syrian refugees into their
respective states, but now the question has been raised over whether or not a state can
override an overreaching, Obama-controlled, power-hungry, US government.
According to American University law professor Stephen Vladeck, US states may have a
difficult time pre-empting federal authority to do as it pleases, regarding Obama's refugee
influx agenda, however, a state can make it a very difficult proposition for the US government. Vladeck states that "Legally, states have no authority to do anything because the
question of who should be allowed in this country is one that the Constitution commits to
the federal government." But Vladeck noted, "without the state's participation, the federal
government would have a much more arduous task."
"So a state can't say it is legally objecting, but it can refuse to cooperate, which makes
thing much more difficult." But, what happens if a state challenges the federal government's authority on forcibly resettling refugees into a state which has refused them?
Here is where the federal government's role becomes politically damaging, to say the
least, not to mention the possibility of fomenting a constitutional crisis, pitting the individual states against the federal government. If the federal government were to override a
state, and place refugees within the state without the state's consent, the state would most
likely then sue in federal court over jurisdiction, forcing a possible injunction which could
suspend the federal government's efforts at forcibly resettling refugees, at least within the
complainant state.
Presently, the Obama regime has already been forced to suspend its dream act impetus,
after being overruled by a federal appeals court over Obama's legalizing of at least 6 million illegal immigrants. In that case, a federal judge declared an injunction against the
Obama regime, for breaking US immigration laws, via an unlawful executive order, which
was upheld. However, that lawsuit is expected to be challenged by the DOJ before the US
Supreme Court. The wildcard in all of this could be congress, which has already introduced a bill on the House floor to end the resettlement of refugees into the US, by the
Obama regime. The official role of either limiting or allowing immigration into the US,
belongs not with the executive branch, but with legislators in congress.
Moreover, if an attack were to take place in the US by ISIS during the present ongoing
"refugee crisis," all bets would then be off, concerning Obama and the Democrat's agenda
to flood the US with foreign nationals, who have , both in Europe and in the US, often
proven to be hostile towards western civilization. Congress also holds the power of the
federal purse in disallowing funding of refugee resettlement, however, congressional leadership in recent years, despite being dominated by Obama's political opposition[sic] has
been less than aggressive, in limiting Obama's spending initiatives.

want to just give that up. He'll never go as far as self-destruction. ISIS
already set foot on American soil. The 3 jihadist arrested in Brooklyn
for planning a bombing are part of a larger plot... A statement from the
FBI suggests there are ISIS members in every state of the Union... just
waiting for a sign. But the part that the feds leave out is these fanatics
plan something far worse and much more dangerous than 9/11...
ISIS plots to put the entire American nation on our knees... using a revolutionary weapon that could cripple the entire country. Make no mistake, ISIS isn't a rational actor like Russia... They have nothing to lose.
After they decapitated Americans and set people on fire... they burned
all the bridges. They either die, or they destroy America. They can't do it
with brute, military force. We're too powerful for that... But we're defenseless against a "smart bomb" that's 1000 times more damaging than
nuclear devices. It's a weapon that can instantly end modern life in
America by knocking out our power grid. Nothing that has electronic
components will ever work again. Cars won't start, TVs, phones, the
Internet will all be dead. They're going to send us back to the middle
ages... You'll have to make a fire to cook and use candles for light.
In fact... just seconds after this calamity hits, all social structures will be
reversed... and the information I'm about to disclose will put you at the
top of the "food chain". There's nothing you and I can do to stop it...
BUT there is an answer... ONE weird professor who's uncovered a
proven way to shield yourself, your loved ones, and even your community, from America's morbid coming mayhem. If you want to take down
an entire country, without too much effort and without having any
money or resources, all you have to do is to destroy his power grid.
Dr. Peter Pry, a former CIA officer, is the executive director of the Task
Force on National and Homeland Security and the director of the U.S.
Nuclear Strategy Forum. He also served on the Congressional EMP
Commission, the Congressional Strategic Posture Commission, and the
House Armed Services Committee. He warned us on air at a New York
radio station: "There is an imminent threat from ISIS to the national
electric grid and not just to a single U.S. city".
Outlining the threat, Pry told us about a leaked U.S. Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission report divulged in March 2014. The report
shows that coordinated terrorist attacks on just nine of the nation's
55,000 electrical power substations could provoke coast-to-coast blackouts for up to 18 months. Pry explained the possibility of ISIS immediately hiring Mexican extremists such as the Knights Templar drug cartel, which last year successfully used guns and Molotov cocktails to
attack numerous Mexican power stations, leaving 11 towns without
electricity. Pry continues: "Now those guys are just across our southern
border. That means that ISIS doesn't have to actually come to the United
States on those U.S. passports. All they've got to do is contact the
Knights Templar, wire these guys $10 million, I mean they'll do anything for money. And say, "Hey, go across that open U.S. border and
take out the electric grid in Arizona, or New
Mexico, or Minnesota or New York. Or the
entire nation. So something like that could be
arranged. It could happen tomorrow. It could.

Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia Rates Rising: CDC

850-835-2028

Increases are largely driven by STD epidemic among men, U.S.

researchers say
The number of cases of three key sexually transmitted diseases increased
last year for the first time since 2006, concerned U.S. health officials reported Tuesday. In 2014, 1.4 million cases of chlamydia were reported to
the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention -- a 2.8 percent increase since 2013. This is the highest number of cases of any STD ever
reported to the CDC, the government researchers said in the annual report
.Substantial increases were also reported in rates of syphilis (15 percent)
and gonorrhea (5 percent). And the syphilis rates were highest among gay
and bisexual men, according to the CDC's Sexually Transmitted Disease
Surveillance, 2014 report.
"In the previous years, we have had some declines in some diseases and
increases in others. But, we are concerned about the alarming increases we
are seeing in chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis," said lead researcher Dr.
Gail Bolan, director of the CDC's Division of STD Prevention.
In 2014, there were just over 350,000 reported cases of gonorrhea -- a rate
of nearly 111 per 100,000 people. In addition, there were 20,000 reported
cases of syphilis -- a rate of about 6 per 100,000, the report said.
STDs affect young people and women most severely. However, increasing
rates among men represent a large part of the overall increases across all
three STDs, Bolan said.
"We are concerned that most of the surging rates are among men," Bolan
said. "Men are driving these increases. There is an urgent need to tackle
the increases we are seeing."
Syphilis among gay and bisexual men has been increasing since 2000, she
said. In 2014, these men accounted for 83 percent of reported cases among
men when the sex of the partner is known. And just over half of men with
syphilis in 2014 were also HIV-positive, Bolan added.
There is also evidence that gay and bisexual men are seeing similar increases in gonorrhea and chlamydia, she said.
Despite that, young people are still the most disproportionately affected by
STDs, Bolan added. Last year, those between the ages of 15 and 24 accounted for nearly two-thirds of the reported cases of chlamydia and gonorrhea. That compares to previous estimates that young people get half of
the estimated 20 million new STDs diagnosed each year in the United
States, she pointed out.

Eden Gardens Wesley House will be decorated for Christmas

It's that time of year again - to decorate Eden for the Christmas Holidays. We have several new
decorators and our "veterans" who have generously agreed to donate their time and decorating
skills to embellish the Wesley House for the Christmas Holidays - the Friends of Eden and visitors
to Eden can't thank these individuals enough for all that they contribute to Eden and our
community.
On November 17th, our decorators will gather to transform the Wesley House into a Christmas
wonderland. Jacque Wright and Angela Atkinson of Jacque Wright Designs will be decorating the
Downstairs entry way, Upstairs hallway, and the staircase with the theme of "Deck the Halls".
Anna Lisa Daniel of "Clay" on 30A will "Make a Joyful Song this Christmas" on the Sun porch.
Members of Green Thumb Garden Club of Santa Rosa Beach "Invite you to a Christmas Garden
Party" in the Parlor.
Russ Barley and Tim Ard of Emerald Coast Flowers and Gifts will be bringing "Christmas
Elegance" to the Dining room.
Members of the Pt. Washington Historical Society will be having "A Victorian Christmas Tea" in
the Library.
Going up the stairway decorated by Jacque Wright Designs, the upstairs Sun porch is "Frozen in
Time" by the Seagrove Garden Club. Ali Weil has decorated the Blue Bedroom with "Winter
Blooms". Across the hall, in the Pink Bedroom, Tara Stacey has created "A Child's Christmas
Dream" Moving on down the "Deck the Halls", is the Children's bedroom by the youngest
members of our decorating team - the children of South Walton Montessori Academy with
the theme of "A Children's Christmas".
And finally to the Red Bedroom, where Park Specialist, Lynda Smith has created a "Victorian
Red".
Members of Pt. Washington Historical Society will once more set up all the luminaries - the
supplies for the luminaries are made possible thru the generous support of Red Bar's Ollie & Louie
Petit, Bud & Alley's Dave Rauschkolb, and Cafe Thirty-A's Harriet Crommelin.
The Candlelight Open House will be Saturday, December 19th from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Carolers will be present on the porch, and the Friends of Eden will be serving refreshments in the
Pavilion. This yearly event is sponsored by Florida Park Services and the Friends of Eden donations to the Friends will be appreciated.

LOCAL MOBILITY STUDY

LAUNCHES: SAY WHICH

LOCAL MOBILITY STUDY LAUNCHES:

SAY WHICH WAY, WALTON
Residents and Visitors Encouraged to Participate By Completing Transportation Survey
Representatives from the Okaloosa-Walton
Transportation Planning Organization (O-W
TPO) announced launch of their transit feasibility study, an analysis of mobility needs in
Walton County and along 30A. The community will say which way they want transit
to go for Walton, providing valuable insight
into travel habits, transportation needs and
commuting preferences. Public input about
the feasibility of alternative transit options
will be gathered through a series of community forums and surveys, and this information
will help shape any proposed solutions or
recommendations.
The short questionnaire, available online at
WaltonTransitSurvey.com will be used to
evaluate the countys existing transportation
issues and determine travel preferences and
priorities for residents and visitors. Survey
questions include everything from gauging
seasonal travel patterns to desired service
areas and peak hours of operation.
The study will evaluate the feasibility of operating a regularly scheduled public transportation service within Walton County and
along 30A. This project is in partnership with
the O-W TPO, Walton County and the West
Florida Regional Planning Council. Results
from the survey will determine if public transit solutions are feasible for the area and provide planners with the data to create a mobility plan.
To sign up for updates or take the online survey, please visit WaltonTransitSurvey.com.

the kitchen and your wife tells you she can't cook breakfast because there's no power. You then notice
there's no lights. Probably just a normal blackout. You pour a bowl of cereal and start eating it.
You're half way through your breakfast, but then you notice your neighbors gathered outside in one
big disoriented crowd. Probably the blackout affected most of the neighborhood.
That's when one of your kids comes over to complain that the cell-phone doesn't work. You explain
that it can't be charged because of the blackout. But you check your phone and it doesn't work either.
Maybe this isn't just a plain black-out. So you go outside to talk to your neighbors. All of them experienced the same crazy stuff as you did. One of them has a radio. You can hear something. There's
been an EMP attack. No invasion but the power grid is down indefinitely. This will be the last time
you'll see your neighbors like this. You know you're prepared for anything... But the possibility of an
EMP attack never occurred to you... this is not a drill! It's the real thing!
A week later... you're knee deep in hell. You now realize that you're under-prepared at best! Your
food and water supply are almost gone and you're freezing. Most of the food is rotten and the kids
are scared and cold. You managed to protect your home so far, but in the last couple of days RIOTS
HAVE STARTED... People are starting to turn on each other, they went from civil to psychotic in

Chairman Imfeld Thanks Local Delegation for

Assistance in NWFCP
Senator Don Gaetz and Representative Brad Drake held their Walton
County Delegation meeting at 1:00pm in the Walton County Commissioners' Chamber Boardroom in DeFuniak Springs on Thursday, November 12th.
During the meeting, Walton County BCC Chairman and District 3
Commissioner Bill Imfeld took the opportunity to thank them publicly
for their and the States assistance in the development of the Northwest Florida Commerce Park at Mossy Head.
In 2013, the Florida Legislature voted to provide funding for the
NWFCP in the amount of $7.3 Million to fund a Wastewater Treatment Facility and to complete the infrastructure for the park.
Since the funding become available, the park has continued to thrive.
Currently, the park houses a Loves Travel Stop and Country Store,
Subway, McDonalds and Sleep inn. Projects under construction include an I-10 Truck Sales, Empire Truck, FedEx Distribution Center,
Southern Tire Mart, Walton County Sheriffs Substation, Walton
County Wastewater Treatment Facility and Busby Baked Goods Distribution Center.
The organizations
currently committed to the park
represent 230-500
new Walton
County jobs, over
$39 Million in new
investment and
over $1 Million in
new sales tax revenue for the
County.
The park currently
still has approximately 60 acres
available and the
County looks forward to the continued future growth
of the park.

DFS CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERS A

NEW VETERANS PARK

Walton County Deputy Sheriff Harold Shover presented

several concept designs for consideration. Shover, a military veteran and member of the Walton County Sheriff's
Office Honor Guard Unit has been an ardent supporter of a
dedicated veterans park for Walton county and is doing
much of the footwork in helping make it become a reality.
Alaqua Animal Refuge Pet of the Week
He even personally drew the sketches.
"This is not about me at all. This is about having a dedicated and suitable site to honor all Walton County veterans
and a place to have ceremonies and events," said
Shover. He said he has received nothing but positive responses from those who have seen the plans.
The idea was born after Assistant City Manager Tillman
Mears expressed a desire to see a more appropriate location for Veterans Day activities that would address the
logistical needs of participants and organizers but reflect
the solemnity and dignity of those who have served. The
site would also serve a dual purpose and be available for

ISIS Threatens Attack on Washington,

DC While Vowing More Attacks in
Europe in New Video (Youtube)
Islamic State warned in a new video on Monday that countries taking part in air strikes against Syria would suffer the
same fate as France, and threatened to attack in Washington.
The video, which appeared on a website used by Islamic
State to post its messages, begins with news footage of the
aftermath of Friday's Paris shootings in which at least 129
people were killed. The message to countries involved in
what it called the "crusader campaign" was delivered by a
man dressed in fatigues and a turban, and identified in subtitles as Al Ghareeb the Algerian.
"We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign
that, by God, you will have a day, God willing, like France's
and by God, as we struck France in the center of its abode in
Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its center
in Washington," the man said.
This purports to be the work of Islamic State fighters in the
Iraqi province of Salahuddine, north of Baghdad. The U.S.
Department of Homeland Security would not comment on
the video but said it has not received information indicating a
potential attack. As of yet. Would you say when?
The French government has called the Paris attacks an act of
war and said it would not end its air strikes against Islamic
State in Syria and Iraq."While we take all threats seriously,
we do not have specific credible information of an attack on
the U.S. homeland," a
DHS official said on condition of anonymity.
French fighter jets
launched their biggest
raids in Syria, targeting
the Islamic State's stronghold in the city of Raqqa,
in coordination with U.S.
forces. Police raided
homes of suspected
Islamist militants across
France overnight.

Give ThanksJust Not Only on

Social Media
By Rian Lyday
"Thanksgiving is an emotional time.
People travel thousands of miles to be with people they see
only once a year.
And then discover once a year is way too often."
-Johnny Carson
I was thinking about Thanksgiving and how people take this
one time a year to tell others what they are thankful for. For
example, if you have a social media account, login in November and read all the posts from people who have complained for 11 months about their livessuddenly they
want to share with the world of social media the 30 things
they are thankful for. Most of those people are instantly
mad about something on December 1st. I am not going to
pretend that I am thankful for my life 365 days a year, I am
human. What I would like to start doing is reminding
myself every single day about something I have to smile
about. I often stop and think, I am so lucky to have the job I
have or the family I love but I dont often share that with
the particular people that make me happy. So, on that note, I
would like to share ten things that I am thankful for with
you, the readers. My list is unconventional this time around
because I have had time to really think about the little and
big things that make me happy on a daily basis. Tell
someone thank you today, just because. Thank you, each
person that takes the time to read my columnsI feel like I
am having a personal conversation with you every time I
write.
The obvious, my son and husband: I am thankful for
the way they make me laugh and act like I am the
smartest and most beautiful person they know.
Show tunes: I am thankful that even though I am not on
Broadway, I can feel like I am with Pandora show
tunes stations.
Pizza: who doesnt love to pizza, the one food in life
that makes almost everyone happy.
My students: every student I have taught, both today
and 15 years ago, has changed my life in some
way.
My dishwasher: I spent almost a year without one
nothing else needs to be said.
My glasses: While I had lasik eye surgery years ago,
my reading glasses are my new best friend.
Almost being 40: Strange, I know, for a female to be
thankful for this milestone, but thank goodness I
have only lived (on average) half of my life. I have
so much more to do before I leave.
Books: Can you imagine when our forefathers were
around? They didnt have worlds of words to
escape to. I cant imagine my life without reading.
Brazil: I lived there when I was a 16 year-old, difficult
girl. If I wouldnt have had that opportunity, I
would not be the person I am today.
OCD/ADHD: While some people see it as a curse, I see
it as a blessing. I love the fact that I can listen to 10
people talk at once and answer every question
posed or the fact that my house is always clean
enough that if people show up, I am not
embarrassed to let them in.
