How Teewe Works

Teewe is an enlarged thumb drive-sized dongle that plugs into a normal

Television sets HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) port and allows
you to stream media files from your existing mobile phone or personal
computer through your home Wi-Fi network and onto your TV screen.
You can play movies and TV shows with resolution as high as 1080p, listen to
music, watch the image files and can also throw Web pages onto your TV
screen through the chrome plugin.

Your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop acts as the initial launching site for the
entertainment and as the remote for controlling what you see and hear on
your TV screen. Provided you already have as suitable device running a
compatible operating system and have Wi-Fi through a compatible router,
you get all this functionality for the cost of the Teewe, which as of its debut
was priced below most similar streaming devices at 2399 INR.

Teewe Technical Specifications

The Teewe is a small black device with a form factor similar to a bulbous flash
drive. It is 2.8 inches (72 millimeters) in length, 1.4 inches (35 millimeters) in
width and 0.5 inches (12 millimeters) in height, with a weight of 1.2 ounces
(34 grams). It has an HDMI output connector on one end and a micro-USB
port on the other end. It also has an LED status light.

The Device in itself is a complete CPU with a Dual Core ARM Cortex A9
Processor with a Quad Core GPU for High Performance, 1.6+ GHz and 1GB of
DDR 3 RAM.

To use Teewe, you will need a TV/Monitor or Projector with at least one
female HDMI Port, which you should find on just about any high-definition
(HD) television. The device has a maximum resolution video output of 1080p.
Youll also need a good Wi-Fi network connection. The Wireless Standard is
802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi (802.11 n at 2.4GHz only) with WPA and WPA2 security
(WPA2 is recommended).

The device comes with the following:

A USB power cable with a micro-USB connector at one end and a

standard USB 2.0 connector at the other.
A power supply with a USB 2.0 port.
Plugs into TV directly and powered from wall outlet or TV USB Port (not
recommended).
An HDMI extender.

The latter two of the above can be used optionally. The extender works to
plug in the device if it wont fit neatly in any of your available HDMI ports,
but using it can also help improve WIFI reception if your Teewe is having
trouble connecting to your network.
The device is powered using the USB power cable plugged into the Teewe via
the micro-USB port, with the other end either plugged into a standard USB
port or into the power adapter for insertion into a wall outlet.
Teewe is supported with the following Operating Systems:

Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 or higher

iOS ----- or higher (on iPhone, iPad)

Windows Vista or higher

Mac OS 10.6 or higher

What Makes Teewe Stream to Your TV?

To setup Teewe, you have to install a Teewe mobile app, depending upon what
device you are using as a media launcher (Android, iOS or Windows phone). Once it
is setup, you use the app to do the actual launching and controlling of your content,
may it be an offline or online content.

Setting Up Teewe
1. You simply plug the USB power cable into the Teewe and into a power
source, and plug the Teewe into an HDMI port on your television set.
The HDMI connector on the Teewe can also be plugged into the
included HDMI extender, which can be connected to the TV, either if
there is no room for the device directly in the HDMI port or if you are
having Wi-Fi reception issues.

not to plug the USB cable into a port labeled "service," but only into
one clearly marked as a USB port.

Once the device is connected and powered, switch the TV's input to
the right HDMI port, and the television will show up with a loading
screen.

What happens internally?

The device is booting. Booting is the initialization of a computing
device. While booting, device loads its internal software or firmware
(somewhat similar to Android) into memory so that device can work
properly. Removal of device while booting can permanently damage
the device or the device memory.
Each device has a unique MAC ID. At the time of booting, the devices
internal memory stores the MAC ID into it.

After the device is ready i.e. it has finished loading the firmware into
the memory, the Television screen will display "Step 1 - Setting up

and it should identify the device with this screen on your phone. Select
"Yes" to setup your Teewe device.

4. Visit the page teewe.in/downloads. From the link, you'll download,

install and launch a Teewe mobile app if you're using a smartphone or
tablet (it will direct you to the appropriate app store), desktop app for
the local contents to stream, the Teewe Plugin extension for the
Chrome browser if you are using a desktop or laptop. If you are using a
computer that doesn't already have the Chrome browser, you will have
to install that, as well.

In the case of the Teewe app, it will take you through several more
steps to set up your new device. You connect your phone's Wi-Fi to
your home network. A code should appear both on the TV screen and
on your launch device screen. You confirm that they match to move
forward.

First the app will
check whether the
device is already mapped with the MAC ID of the
smartphone and with the MAC ID of the Teewe. If not, then it will map with
the smartphones MAC ID and it will be stored in the memory of the Teewe. If
it is already mapped, then the device will skip the setup process and directly
open up the home screen from the app.

personal.

7. You then select your home Wi-Fi network, enter your password and hit
a button to finish set up.

8.

Once it's connected to Wi-Fi, the Teewe will probably do an auto-update

to grab the latest software, which may take a few minutes. Anytime
updated software is available, the device downloads and installs it
automatically, whether you're performing setup or not.

9. If you have entered the correct password, Setup will be complete and
the Teewe device will proceed to the Ready to Play screen. The App will
also show a success screen.

10.

After the setup is complete, you will not be asked to setup the device
again unless you change your home network settings. This screen is
shown when the device is setup and is ready to play content. After all
this, provided there are no connection issues, your mobile device or
computer should be ready to stream to your TV via Teewe. The next
step is opening an app and casting away.

It may also require some configuration of your Wi-Fi router under

certain circumstances, and it's possible for your router to be
incompatible with the Teewe. Teewe's support site has a
Teewe Router Compatibility page with a list of configuration settings,
list of incompatible routers, possible workarounds for certain issues
and contact information for the router manufacturers.

What You Can Do With Teewe

To use Teewe on your mobile device, make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi,
and open a supported application. When the Teewe application is launched,
you will find a home screen with all the sections specially divided into
YouTube, Music Videos, and Movies etc.

When Streaming Online Contents

When you are streaming any YouTube videos from the mobile app or the
Teewe plugin, the URL of the video is passed on through the Wi-Fi network to
the Teewe. As the Teewe receives the URL, the inbuilt media player of the
Teewe fetches the information from the server and starts playing the video
file.

Some Other Features of Teewe

You generally control streaming from your mobile device using a volume bar,
a scrub bar (the scroll bar that lets you move forward and backward through
a song or video), and stop, pause and play icons on the screen. There may
be other controls available, depending upon the app. The volume in this case
is Teewes internal volume, so you may have to use the TV's remote to really
get the volume to your preferred setting. If you have an Android device, you
can also control the volume using the side buttons available on your phone.

While you're streaming a media file via Teewe, if you select another file from
within the same app, that media file will likely play to your TV screen instead.
But you can actually go to application and select a different media file on
your mobile device or computer and add it to queue so that it would play as
soon as the current file stops playing, while the original file continues to
stream on your TV screen, unless you choose a media file on that or any
other Teewe app (if available), in which case the media file in the new app
will take over your TV.

Multiple devices can be used to launch content to the Teewe, provided they
can all connect to your Wi-Fi network and have the appropriate apps or
extensions installed. They can include your phone, your tablet, your
computer or the devices of other household members or friends who are
over. That means you can end up fighting for control of the TV, or you can
purposefully do a bit of organized social streaming of videos or music.
