Activity

7 Look at the pictures and arrange the sentences in the


correct order to form a meaningful paragraph based
on the pictures.

a. It was an interesting film about a plane which crashed


on a small empty island in the Pacific Ocean.
b. After a few weeks, the passengers were eating raw
fish and meat.
c. Although the passengers were safe, nobody knew
where the plane had crashed.
d. It was an American movie called The Lost Flight.
e. So the passengers had to learn how to hunt for food
in the jungle and how to catch fish from the sea to eat.
f. My sister and I went to see a film last night.
g. After they had been on the island for two months,
three of the men made a boat and sailed away to find help.
h. It showed how people can quickly change when they
have to look after themselves in the jungle.
i. But my sister and I enjoyed the film.
j. But their boat sank and they were drowned.
k. The film ended without saying whether the passengers
were rescued or not.

In textbook Developing English Competencies GRADE X, especially activity 7 above there are
some analysis such as :
1. What are learners expected to do?

Turn taking
The student must be Look at the pictures and arrange the sentences in the

correct order to form a meaningful paragraph based on the pictures. In table 6.1
indicates the student of senior high school has initiate and the task or activity

need some response from students.


Language focus
In the task or activity student focus on meaning and system relationship between

picture and sentence.


Mental operation
Student can Retrieve from LT memory, Retrieve from IT memory, Retrieve from
ST memory to answer the question, and the student can build text and Draw on
prior knowledge, Compare, Decode semantic meaning to arrange the sentences in

the correct order to form a meaningful paragraph based on the pictures.


2. Who are the student involved with?
In practice learners mostly individually and simultaneously. They answer the question by
individually not in group activities.
3. What are the student learning?
Input to learners
The task or activity 7 above is about writing text and The learners input is mainly
written (as words, phrases or sentence) and graphics also. And no oral discourse

and audio resources from the task.


Output from learners : The task expect learners to write the paragraph based on

the picture.
Source of content : The material derived from the textbook.
Nature of content : The content of the task derived from personal information or
opinion (from student or teachers), and the task is fictional text. And the content
of task/activity 7 is linguistic items.
